It sounds great! Trout price in my country is around £3.20 per kg.

It would be a lucrative business to import trouts from Georgia to UK. What do u think?

One avenue that maybe worth looking at is filleting the fish, smoking it & packing it. Whilst it would still need to be chilled, you could pack to a greater density.

The shipping costs are not much at all. The fees of shipping of a 40 foot container from Georgia to UK is around 2.200$. A 40 foot container transports 26 tone weight.

2.200$ / 26.000kg = 0.085$ (0.056£)

So shipping cost is 0.085$ (0.056£) per 1kg fish.

Filleting the fish, smoking & packing it is a very good idea. But first I need to find a partner in UK who will sell my product. It's up to him to tell me what kind of filleting, smoking and packing will be needed for UK market in order that I produce the relevant product.

A huge amount if Uk seafood is sourced in cheap this way and marketed as local. Fish merchants can buy and order fish from overseas on a near daily basis instead of relying on local fishermen who may not be out due to bad weather or catch much of the required fish. With fish quotas being cut every year without proper research cheap foreign imports fills this gap in the market.
Hotels, restaurants etc can then continue to buy steadily from their local fish merchant/supplier on a regular basis at a good price. There is a joke amoung Irish fishermen that cork airport is the biggest fishing port in Ireland.

I'll have to do a detailed research on the possible quontities if you get seriously interested. But what's sure is that I can deliver 50 tones per month.

As for the timescales, we regularly export apple juices from Georgia to Germany and it takes 4-5 weeks by sea. As UK ports are not far from German ones, I suppose the timescale will be the same.

It's also possible to use trucks to reduce the delivery time. It would take 7-8 days but it would be expensive.
