Hi guys,

I hope you're good.

I'm currently doing a course at London Business School on building an ai company. I plan to launch one soon (a vibe coding platform). I'm looking for a technical co-founder. If you're interested and want to learn more drop me a response/message.

Thanks,

Michael A

Hi Michael, welcome.

What are you looking for in a co-founder?

Also, what are you offering to them?

@Michael_ A - what does your platform offer that a plethora of existing platforms don’t already do?

What sort of budget do you have? If it’s not millions then it’s difficult to see how you could compete with the well funded and supported platforms.

I actually encountered a problem using a vibe coding platform that spawned this idea. The plan is to secure VC funding once we get some early traction and do a few market tests.

One person having a problem isn’t a good basis for a new coding platform. How do you know it wasn’t your lack of coding and development skills that was the issue?

Or are the coding platform support forums full of developers all reporting the same problem?

I've just looked up 'Vibe coding':

In computer programming, vibe coding is a software development practice assisted by artificial intelligence (AI) and based on chatbots (programs that simulate conversation). The software developer describes a project or task in a prompt to a large language model (LLM), which generates source code automatically. Vibe coding typically involves accepting AI-generated code without closely reviewing its internal structure, instead relying on results and follow-up prompts to guide changes.

This is what's wrong with the world today. A 'tech bro' makes up a term (in this case 'vibe coding') to sugarcoat what other people would otherwise call a bad idea ('are you an amateur? No problem, you too can code with AI now').

Same goes for 'AI hallucinations', another term sugarcoating the fact that these models are unreliable.

This is no reflection on OP - I'm sure he means well - but it's a worrying industry trend where everyone just jumps on the AI bandwagon, with apparently little to no critical thinking.

Rant over.

You haven't answered the question.

The one question that any potential partner/investor wants to know is

WIIFM? (50% of nothing is nothing)

  • What are they actually investing (time or money) in?
  • What is the business model?
  • What are you bringing to the party?
At the moment it looks like yet another idea looking for someone to make it real.
To answer your question - they are investing time into building a vibe coding platform. The business model is a subscription tier service. This isn't the first company i've founded, I bring insights into design and the business end of things. Just would need technical expertise.

There is zero incentive to your business proposal. You will get more traction if you pay them for their time and expertise. Developers are inundated with proposals none of which pay the bills.

Equity is a quite a big incentive. Besides, we'll be looking at accelerators that provide a stipend to fund salaries.

This is what i'm finding out. Doing a test at the moment to gain insight if it's a big enough problem.

So any taker is offered to "invest their own time" with nothing else but the promise of returns that may never materialise?

Like Mark T Jones said, this looks like one of the many proposals that are posted on UKBF at least twice a month with zero follow-up: make of that what you will.

It's happening all around you in startups. See YC Co-founder matching for example. People are driven and hungry. And yes, there will always be a solution for remuneration.

Here is your problem

There are literally thousands (tens of thousands) of inventors/entrepreneurs/dreamers seeking investment (whether it takes the form of skills, money, contacts or time) and probably hundreds of relevant investors

So to grab their attention, you will need a heck of a lot more than a vague request for co-founders and evasive answers to questions.

Out of interest, can you point us to previous businesses and exits?

I'll take your advice on board. It's a little too early for investors, just looking for a solid co-founder. I'm scheduling calls with people so there is interest. First business, didn't scale, but ended up investing in a top tier VC fund and had secondary exits in the process.

However, skills need to be brought to the table.
Yes they do. But those skills aren't free. The sort of person experienced in building a vibe coding platform will want paying.

People, sometimes when it comes to building startups rely on a personal savings runway to build something. I'm not asking for a salaried employee, i'm asking for a co-founder. It depends though.

But...

They don't need you. They could build and market the platform without you. If all you have to offer is experience of setting up a business that's disproportionate to the amount of effort the developer will have to put in.

Common advice goes against building on your own. You ideally need team members or co-founders with complementary skill sets. Investors rarely invest in solo founders.

That may be so but a developer keen to build a vibe coding platform still doesn’t need you.

You don’t have anything to attract a developer to join you. Sorry to be so blunt but your business idea isn’t going to work.

What's the proper detail of the project, just an overview of the business plans and projections; e.g. who's the customer and their demographic, what's the market size, in what countries, are there current competitors & if so what is their proposition, how will it be marketed, how will it make money, what are the projected earnings and profitability, and can it scale with limited funds or does it need a large cash injection?

If you can answer those questions sensibly, you may have an idea and a plan that's worth looking at, if not, then it's just blustering nonsense.

Sure. Please look at the pitch deck. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Oh dear. Not another pitch deck. Tell us here. Post your business plan

@Michael_ A you need to be clear what you are contributing.

I am currently building something on just that basis, but I am very clear what my partner is bringing in - the sales skills I lack and a proven ability to bring in customers etc.

Look at it from your prospective of your "technical co-founders" point of view - why should they not be thinking "I could just do this by myself".

I'm not going to do that, posting my pitch for everybody to see. If people are interested in knowing more, i'll happy share it with them and ask for valuable feedback.

I'll take this onboard! But I do bring skill sets to the table such as my commercial acumen from working with well regarded clients in the agency environment.

50/50 equity for what exactly?

Ive had alot of these and alot of them turn out to be I have an idea build it for me.

What exactly do you bring to the table in terms of distributing it? How does it fit into its own niche? What else is out there that could be used as you intend? What do you expect demand to be?
