What's your top ways to increase awareness of your facebook fan page? Do paid Ads really work?

Paid ads are all that work. Facebook organic reach is declining and will continue to do so as more and more people use the platform for marketing.

Competitions work very well on Facebook, if they have good (doesn't have to be expensive) prizes they become very sharable and can be promoted on other social media platforms too.

Facebook Ads are great as long as you get the criteria right - area, age group etc. They don't work out that expensive (well not as expensive as PPC) and do work and convert to sales as long as your actual facebook is kept on top of and updates are relevant for your followers or "likers"

Acs888 it doesn't really matter what other people get. What matters is, is it the right channel for you to use to reach potential customers and whether you can clearly articulate why people should visit your page in an engaging way.

Paid ads work extremely well if you get the targeting right! Here are a few other things you could do:

  1. Add a qr code to your business card
  2. Hold competitions
  3. Engage with key influencers
  4. Post on Facebook groups
  5. Add a link in your email signature

I've had great success with paid ads. Organic content doesn't achieve any near as much attention not even 10% in a lot of cases.

Cross promotion between your various social networks and Facebook page is essential. For instance, if you have many followers on Twitter, then you will want to try to get those people to hop on over to Facebook. You can develop a following on Pinterest and Instagram and then cross reference to posts on your Facebook page. Most people will have multiple social networking accounts, so there should be no problem getting them to click through to another. This should help you get 'awareness' for your page and likes. However, keeping your Facebook fans coming back to the page is completely up to you. You will need to post content your fans want to share and comment on.

Forget QR codes they are pretty useless IMO.

Ads work really well but don't try and target the masses and pay a cheap CPC, this is where the majority of people go wrong, they think if I can get a CPC of 10-15p that's a good thing, but these people might not be targeted, and targeted traffic is the only type of traffic you want.

If I owned a financial advisory, would I want a 10 year old landing on my website? No! I would rather spend ten times as much as have a 45 year old semi-retired individual who might have "Liked" the FSA page or something similar.

Not all traffic is created equal!!!

Most of the marketers intends to increase awareness of their Facebook fan page and also trying paid ads just to improve its popularity and gain traffic but not all traffic are converting and the worst no conversions at all.

Facebook works best as a B to C platform so that would be the first thing to establish.

Competitions do work really will if a decent and desired prize and you're asking people to reshare, like, comment etc in order to win.

I'd much rather send people to my website and take their money than have them hop between SM accounts.
