Hi,

Does anyone outsource the running of their social media ?

If so what kind of prices are they paying?

We have our social media content planned and posted for £110 a month. This means our 3 main channels see regular updates. I take control of the community management myself in house.

Community management ( likes, shares, growing followers, engaging etc) requires hours throughout the month so if you were to outsource this it would cost more. The £110 is just for a content plan each month which we build on.

thank you for the reply and it looks like I had a good quote from a local company. To run two brands on all social media.

Guess I was a bit shocked as at the moment, I will be paying him almost what I am taking home myself each month (actually taking out of the company that is, I make sure all personal allowance is used). Life is tough at the bottom lol

Hello there,

I agree with Mike. Engagement takes plenty of time. As a SoMe Manager, I would add that simply posting content isn't all as you cannot afford to fill the void on social media platforms. I find that business owners find it hard to work out ROI. Therefore, it's difficult to know what SoMe management is worth.

Do remember to start with your business goals. Realistic goals for SoMe are:
- Generate leads
- Build authority
- Build brand

If you are not getting the above- you might just be filling the void.

Once you know how to measure these and you are seeing the results- the marketing budget will be justified at the end of each month.

Another thing to think about is that most social media now includes paid advertising, as this is what Google and the like have cottoned on to as more beneficial (for them of couse), so it's not unusual for a social media manager to quote you a fee, and ask for a budget to spend on ads.

You can outsource your social media with pre-determined tweets to companies for around £100-£150 a month. However, if that's too steep right now, you can look at places like meetedgar.com - where you can create many tweets, Facebook posts etc for around $49 a month. So about £30. It's monthly so you can stop at any time.
