Can I ask what your advertising/whats your advert & target on LinkedIn?

I'm on it quite a bit - I do video and photography production yet about 80% of the ads I see are for video production companies!

I don't know if its the end user or linkedIN's targeting that's bad but its put me off so far....

Is Facebook advertising really working?

I've used it in the past and found its targeting to be too clunky. It's great if you have a very specific product wita particular niche (+geography). However if it's a more generic product or website then it's a bit limiting, surely?

Facebook advertising is tricky because users can switch off ads they don't like which sometimes competitors do. The safest bet I would say is linkedin. Twitter trends is regarded as spam ads.

Facebook advertising can prove extremely effective if used appropriately. As I am sure you are already aware, they target the ads to people who have interests in that area or talk about it within their profile or friends, their location etc etc. Facebook's ad system allows you to target users to such an extent that, as I read in case study, it is even possible to target just a select few individuals.

I have no experience with linkedin advertising, and know not of how it works so cannot comment. However, judging by the ads I see, it looks as though its system works reasonably well in terms of targeting.

So you have targeted visitors but more importantly have you had any sales / leads / conversions?

I've just started advertising on LinkedIn and I'm getting clicks through to my website but haven't had any conversions yet. Trouble is it's not bloody cheap.

I've set a budget of $40 a day (at around $3 a click any less than that and it wouldn't really be worth it) but at that amount I can only really afford to run the advert for a short period of time (I'm a start-up business so marketing budget is tight).

Does anyone have any tips to get best value out of these pay per click adverts and anyone in my line of business (accountancy) got any idea on average conversion rates. Get the feeling I'll need to run the advert for a decent length of time to get enough clicks to turn in to conversions but if it doesn't actually result in any business it could end up bankrupting me!

It really depends on what your business is?

If you are looking to find B2C customers then yes Facebook advertising can be an additional option to your marketing campaign.

However, if you are looking to find B2B customers then I would look at other marketing options such as email marketing, local advertising and SEO.

If I can help in anyway with your marketing just let me know.
