Hello Everyone

Many organisations have a management team that contains a high level of business acumen but many (especially SMEs) have gaps in their Know-How. This topic is aimed at such SMEs or at managers that wish to build up their skill base.

Lets suppose I created a website that offered leading models and then had some interactive training lessons on how to apply them. Would you likely use it? Would you use it to train your unskilled managers? And would you be prepared to pay for access to it?

With management consultants already existing my angle was to make the website so the client could access the information and training they need, as they need it, to deal with the scenarios they encounter in the workplace.

My list of topics would be:
Recruitment & Selection
Motivation
Appraisals & Performance Management
Coaching & Training Employees
Disciplinary Action & Termination
Creating Organisational Synergy
Employee Behavioural Psychology

With the recruitment & selection as well as appraisals I could also offer psychometric testing online and employee surveying.

I`m interested in knowing the scale of the market for this out there and the kind of price range SMEs would be willing to pay for access to this service (per manager access, or per month access).

Regards
Supp

Think you need to sell the benefit to our businesses from using you rather than a competitor.

It depends on the customer/client need and their inclination to sit through online webinars and such when in fact a lot want some solid ideas and the help in implementing them.

I've worked with several clients ( one who paid huge sums to an ex EY director) who all got 'great advice and ideas', but no real support or direction on the execution of them. I've seen spreadsheets and lists of problems and fixes, a lot of which is meaningless without the comprehension of how to implement them or why one should.

Of course it is true to say many wouldn't want this hands on approach either but as another has already said, why pay for yours when there is already a lot of info out there already? There are countless examples of vlogs, blogs, books and websites that offer this material. The key is making yours stand out.

I've a client who swears by Peninsula, but they don't always have the answers and they cannot personally help them implement changes or transact some of what is needed on their behalf. Then again, some consultants wouldn't either....

If you have the site abs then offer telephone/vc support, that might work. Not original but I dare say you might be able to make it so...?! Would be interested to hear how you get on. Good luck

You’ll be surprised how loathe people are to pay for quality, dedicated advice.

Plenty of examples on here of people who believe it should be free or indeed, expect simple bullet answers to big, complex questions

There is absolutely tons of free information out there (and no shortage of free misinformation). The huge challenge is making it specific and relevant.

Unless your site can address this need then it is basically just another generic resource
