Setting up a Care Recruitment Agency

Hi all,


I am in the process of starting a recruitment agency in the care industry for the sole purpose of providing carers to care homes and individual clients.

My questions are thus?

1. I had like to know the process to achieving this and furthermore,

2. is this the same as setting up a domicilairy care agency.

3.Does it require a registered manager.

4. Will it be registered with the CQC.

Etc.

Please, i will appreciate all help i can get.

If you are providing carers to individuals then yes you will need to register with CQC. You will find the criteria you need to register on CQC's website.

I don't quite understand your first question, but if you mean what do you need to set up a business. Look at the HMRC, Companies House and .gov.uk websites (setting up a business) for how to operate a business in the UK.

So you mean, no matter in what capacity, as long as its in the care industry, i have to register with CQC. Whether care recruitment agency or domiciliary care agency.

Also the 1st question was not for setting up a business as a standalone but for setting up a care recruitment agencies specifically.

No that is absolutely not what I said @AlexanderHenry.

I said if you want to provide carer services to individuals then you need to register with CQC.

Why don't you have a look at their website where it clearly tells you under which circumstances you need to register with them.

I haven't run a care recruitment agency specifically so I don't know. Presumably you have experience in this sector and have done your market research to understand whether there is a demand for another agency or you wouldn't be setting one up.

Try the REC if you want general advice around recruitment.

A friend of mine works in this area, very difficult to source quality workers, understandable as it's a very demanding job that does not pay well

Same as every recruitment process i guess, as one must always get bad eggs. i suppose doing the necessary checks on workers can help eliminate such.

Of coujrse there is a difference. One is a care recruitment agency and one is domiciliary care.

You need to start off by defining what you are going to do. Are you going to employ people who you supply to individual clients and care providers or are you going to introduce people who sill be employed by your clients.

There are a lot or care agencies out there all of whom find it very hard to recruit staff of the right calibre. How will you be different?

Like you rightly said, there is a difference between care recruitment agency and domiciliary, but all the researches i make always takes me to domiciliary agency set up that i am confused if they follow the same process of set up.

Most new start recruitment agencies use some form of factoring to provide the working capital for their business so have a look at factoring for recruitment companies to see if this is something that you would consider using but I would warn you that it is only applicable for recruiters who's customers are companies and not private individuals
