I used to work in outbounds sales, we used to love when we get calls like that. What it means in the call centre is that the call handler gets a break, because they are not allowed to hang up, you get put on silence, and the call handler sits yacking to their mates until the person on the other end of the phone gets fed up. I've handle calls like this that have lasted 20 minutes. Now here is the fun bit because the call handlers talk time has now increased the systems now thinks that he has been pitching, so it gives him better quality of calls instead of sending answer machines.
On the flip side of this, if you hang up the system will just ring you back every 2-4 hours. If the call handler gets loads of hang-ups then the system will direct loads of answer machine to them. Which means to handler doesn't have to keep saying the first 2 lines of the script over and over again. Working in a call centre is so mind numbingly boring that anything will pass for sport!

I used to work in outbound sales too and I find it quite amusing that people think putting the phone down and walking away will annoy cold callers!

Calling people up is awful, so 10 or 15 minutes to talk to those around you, or just sit back and chill is a blessing.

People also seem to think that they're running up our phone bill and that will annoy us too. It's not the phone bill of the person calling you, they don't care! It's the horrible money-hungry people that run the call centre who are paying for it.

And it's them you can blame for the call in the first place. They make the work available. The people who call you are just trying to make a pittance of a living while the person actually responsible for the call drives around in fancy cars and takes a holiday every few weeks.

I think you will find one man's phone monkey is another mans supplier so don't get too carried away. Try marketing this in the city of London where 90% of all UK phone deals are transacted and you'll get a few fleas in your ear.

Interesting the only thing you found in your ten years on the phone was everyone wanting you to *** off as you say...you sound a bit like the phone monkey you describe...not very good...hence the new venture.

Please, there is so much wrong with what you have said, I don't know where to start.

Let me put this into perspective, the SEO industry is very competitive as opposed to your other markets on-site optimisation accounts for 20% of your online visibility as opposed to 80% off-site optimisation.

This naturally changes for each industry and now within the SEO sector it can be divided to 5-7% on-site optimisation remainder off-site optimisation so that basically boils down to who has the most links. There are tools out there such as SE Nuke X which can generate around 10,000 social bookmarking links an hour as opposed to our 25-75 manual links per hour. We work closely with 2 large SEO agencies who rank for terms such as 'internet marketing' seo company and many more similar terms by using black hat methods.

We know this because they have no one in house to carry out ethical SEO so they subcontract it to us. If their website got booted by Google they would create another website for £100 or less if they kept the template and start again.

If I was to go down the same route with Revax Media once the spam hammer came we would loose all the brand reputation we have built so in order to prevent this we use white hat SEO (Ethical marketing) which can't compete to a certain extent to robots.

We are currently working on a small batch of keywords at a time to compensate the extra effort to compete.

Just because they are number 1 doesn't mean they are the best, I have written a blog post in regards to find out who is using black hat if you would like to take a look.

Yeah, I agree.

I often "google" the incoming telephone number before deciding whether to answer it. If it comes up number 1, I know they know their SEO so offer them huge golden handshakes to help me out.
