Hi I’m Josh I have begun a self storage company and have secured funding which we have used to secure the purchase of the land in which we will operate, I am looking for investors to assist with the funding of kitting out the site. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to find an investor/s who is willing to invest £50,000 for us to finish our project in exchange for a fixed percentage of the revenue until they have recovered their investment plus and agreed interest rate.

Thanks for the help

I'm not sure it's really an investment proposition, but I can arrange asset finance for this

If I was to invest £50k in something like this, I would ideally want a % of the company. If a loan payable on turnover, it would be a high interest rate/fee.

I would also want a lien on the business!

What experience do have in this field?

What is the £50k for?

Where is the business based?

Hey Josh, sounds like you're already past the first big hurdle – land’s secured, that’s huge. As for the 50k piece: have you looked into niche angel investor groups that focus on real assets or local infra? Sometimes it’s not the big guys, but someone with a pension pot and a thing for steady returns. Also: any traction or pre-bookings you can show? That’s often what flips a “maybe” to a “where do I sign?”.

Are you sure you need this 50K to get it off the ground
If you do secure an investor you may regret this choice later on
Can you give us some rough details of how far you are and outstanding parts of the plan
Would it be possible for a smaller start-up level then complete the original idea when there is liquid funding in the account

Customers for these places are easy to find and that should not be an issue

Why did you purchase the land rather than lease it, that way you would already have a large amount saved
Hi Chris I agree my original plan was to lease land but that was hard to find and what I could find was too expensive so when the opportunity arose to buy land for below market I took it , it means now the business no longer has the funds to complete the setup of our site but if I can figure out this funding gap it does now mean the business will have a much smaller financial burden on it and much lower costs now we won’t have a lease payment to make every month. The decision I made wasn’t perfect but I don’t believe either option was I took the path I think will benefit long term and only cost us short term.

I’m looking at all my options but I don’t think I would consider giving up a piece of the business, I would prefer to look as a loan which would gain monthly interest until it’s paid off and work out a deal where a fixed percentage of the revenue is due to you until the debt is repaid including all interest accrued.
We are based in Oxford and are looking to secure funding for the fit out of the site I.e gate , foundation , containers etc
We have launched online and have over 30 clients currently on our waiting list.
