Has anyone tried this method? Had any success with it? Is it expensive?

I am considering using this method of advertising - its not on the top of my list and not sure if it will make much difference to other mediums - but wondering if its worth it for brand awareness.

I priced one locally and the council said because it was a very busy area it would be £8000, surely drivers would be to busy watching the road than reading adverts.

I personally wouldn't consider it at that price

at that price, I think it would be cheaper to buy an oldish car, put a vehicle wrap on it and park it for a year near the roundabout.

£8k? ridiculous. Given that you have absolutely no idea how effective it will be.

Maybe if they let you do a trial for 30-60 days for a fraction of the cost. The ones I see are very passive, they dont offer anything or compel you to do anything. Just brand awareness for medium size companies that can afford to pour their marketing spend down the drain!

You are being kind Gary saying medium sized businesses, most I see are very small businesses who tend to try them through naivety.

Have you ever seen Tesco advertise on roundabouts, if not, ask yourself why?

Don't ever kid yourself that large companies "pour their marketing spend down the drain". All the 'household names' spend a great deal of time and money examining every £ they spend on marketing. They don't become 'household names' by accident, they market in the most effective ways possible.

If you can afford it, it should be just about right for brand awareness. Somehow I make a passing look at the ads and yet the brands stick to my memory.

Personally, I would not waste money on roundabout advertising - unless of course you consider you have money to burn.

This kind of marketing is purely brand building i.e. getting your name out, but there are far better ways to use this budget which will bring a measureable return.

I looked into it before, but ultimately (like many others) decided that it was a price-tag I simply could not justify spending the money on. I’d rather use that money on more efficient offline methods of marketing, like direct mailing, postcards, etc.

Looked into this and got quoted over £6000. Only one roundabout in my whole city seems to have sponsorship and i can understand why. You could have a massive advertising campaign for much less than that.
