Recommend Me A Good Host

Hi,

I'm after recommendations on good hosts. I currently run three website one of which is large and is being added to on a daily basis. It currently has a database size of 650mb and I'm struggling to find a host who offers databases bigger than 1gb. I don't think we will be far off hitting this limit.

I recently bought a dedicated server off 1and1 a realised that this was a big mistake as I wanted them to manage it but they only supported MySQL 5.5 and I couldn't get any of my websites working on their server as they require MySQL 5.6. The only way to get around this problem was to cancel the contract with them and buy a new unmanaged server from them, but I don't like what I've seen in my short time with them. Also per sales told me everything would work fine which it hasn't.

I'm currently running Opencart and WooCommerce sites but I would like to change them to Magento in the future.

I'm currently running Opencart and WooCommerce sites but I would like to change them to Magento in the future.

I've moved a few large Magento sites for clients between several hosting providers, and the best one we found for performance, scaleability and reliability was a VPS from linode.com. I understand that they do VPS management too, although I've never taken that service from them.

Magento can be quite resource-hungry.

This is surprising. 1 GB is not that much at all. You can buy a VPS with HostDime or Liquidweb if you are looking for something like that. They don't offer shared though. I would strongly recommend to get managed hosting if you don't know how to manage one (which is what i'm guessing is the case).

EDIT: EuroVPS is another decent one.

Hi Kenny, I think VPS is good for your websites. I recommend you try Jolt Hosting. They are super fast and tech support is good. If you want to try them out, they have a £1 offer for the first month, so it's like a 30 day trial. From there, you can shift to VPS if ever you decide to go for a faster and bigger package. The tech support will be able to help you with the transfer as well.

For opencart and woocommerce best option would be a managed VPS hosting solution, did you manage to find new provider or you still search incase you need help feel free to ping us.
