Re-direction issues

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but someone just told me my site has re-direction issues.

Any advice on what this means and what i can do to change it would be very much appreciated.

Did he/she mention duplicate content or canonicalization?
Do you own both angliabc.co.uk and .com?

Hi, thanks for the reply.

No, they just said that they wouldn't link with me because I had no tags on my pictures and had 're-direction' issues. There was no mention of duplicate content or that nice long word, canonicalization.

I own angliabusinesssolutions but only the co.uk version, not com. My other site is angliacvsolutions but again only the co.uk version, not com. They do not duplicate content and barely refer to eachother.

I guess im a little befuddled about what their issue is, if there is an issue with my site and if anyone has any recommendation to overcome them.

Any input would be much appreciated.

I agree with petra. They seem to be going on about 301 redirect as that is the only redirect that seems to fit this situation.

I sorted out the picture tags so thats one of them ticked off.

So, the 301 re-direct is me buying the same domain, just ending .com and directing it to the .co.uk site?

this site who was questioning mine, I might be wrong but it might have been a stealth tactic for me to use their SEO as I now have an email asking me to email them seo(at)..........co.uk for a detailed report on my site.

Hi, you would only have to implement a 301 redirect if you already owned the two domain names but had the same content residing on both. The fact that you don't own the .com version of your domain name isn't an issue.
What the SEO company were almost certainly referring to is canonicalization which is where a number of versions of your web pages exist, thereby creating potential duplicate content issues, for example:

http://www.angliabc.co.uk
http://angliabc.co.uk
http://www.angliabc.co.uk/index.aspx

Ideally all of these versions would be redirected to one primary version, usually the http://www version.

Another possible 'redirect issue' they may have been referring to is the fact that http://angliabc.co.uk doesn't exist - it brings up a not found message.

very likely - I don't think there is any issue.

It's generally a good idea to ignore these kind of emails.

Just had a look and it appears you can navigate via 'www' and non 'www'

It's a common issue and easily fixed (if you are bothered - it isn't the end of the world?).

Hi. No, my site isn't Wordpress. I wrote and designed it and its out there via a hosting company. I do have a wordpress account, which reminds me I need to put up a new blog post!

As for whether im bothered, well, if its something cheap to fix and will improve my visibility and accessibility it may be something i'll consider but i seem to be getting increasing numbers of hits so it cant be doing too bad with just little ol' me doing the SEO.
