This weekend I was banned from the sites Piston Heads

This was
1) I told someone to F off and stop talking crap
2) I called a modern lad a soy boy cuck ( I'm still not sure sure what this means and it would be wise not to do further research)

This was the final straw and I am no longer welcome
Why does some social media bring out the worst in perfectly decent mature people ?

Social media definitely brings out the worst in people - makes it easier to be offensive (sometimes accidentally, sometimes not) and comprehensively blurs the line between fact and opinion.

A personal rule - and the reason I've limited this forum - is 'if you find yourself getting involved in pointless arguments (or even being tempted) it's time to back off'

Social media is something I absolutely hate, and the irony of that statement is not lost on me.

I'm currently working on a couple of personal projects, whether they succeed or fail will be dependent on how much I put into social media. Hate that, but it's the nature of marketing these days.

Much like the early days of Facebook, a status always started with 'is', every comment on every platform will automatically start with 'in my humble opinion' (in full. Never abbreviated)

If you mean you're equating UKBF to social media, I'd disagree there.

Specialised forums platforms such as this should not fall into the SM bucket. There's no algo here, you know who owns it (meaning, it's not just a bunch of nameless drones), and there's very little chance of something posted here 'going viral' in the same way it does on SM.

The biggest problem with social media AND forums is the users inability to read. 'Reading properly' should become part of the school curriculum.

We are all guilty of getting the wrong end of the stick at times but there is no excuse when statements set before you in black and white. For example.......

There's a tribute on Facebook for the 5 Irish lads who drove the wrong way down a motorway, killing themselves and seriously injuring the participants of another vehicle a couple of weeks ago. Over 100 replies directly condemn the Irish participants for causing the sad and tragic loss of the 2 policemen in the completely separate events of last weekend in Middlesbrough. Just read the story properly!

On Forums, occasionally on here - sorry Ozzy - responses are made without the poster having properly read the opening post.

While I'm at it the BBC, once the most respected purveyor of the English language wouldn't survive in printed media with dozens of phraseology errors appearing on their website.
(Here's todays one - the byline for a photo on the BBC NEWS website) The hospital's entrance remains tight at the hospital's entrance.

Some years ago: Banned from a Signmakers Forum for condemning a guy that was looking for a work around to legally employ a 16-17 year old on a scheme that would allow him to pay just 90p per hour when the minimum wage was around £3.

Banned from the social page of a Holiday Reviews forum for arguing that Blue Card Holders shouldn't use them to occupy supermarket parking spaces when their disability is inactive and all they want is a bag of crisps.

LOL....both probably..........as I recall it a blue badge holder was rightfully complaining about being unable to find a disabled space at B&Q because non-holders were occupying them. The complainant then admitted they had a mobility scooter, there was ample space at the back of the car park and I suggested that being 30yds closer to the door was therefore unnecessary. Was I wrong?

It went downhill from there as the baying mob weren't exactly on board with my bag of crisps analogy that those with blue badges should, as appropriate, consider their actual need and set it against that of their fellow holders.
