I am noticing that now almost all the blogs are nofollow so blog commenting now can only help you to drive traffic but they will not play any role in seo of what now remains is i think Link Exchange through which you can make the quality back links on high PR pages but in this method you are dependent on the others weather they will do it or not and also if someone agreed to give your link they will ask to post their link also on a high PR page... So you can not rely much on the link exchange...

Please share some methods with me through which I can make Quality back-links and one thing which I think I need to mention is that I believe in white hat, spam free, organic SEO so help me in the light of this fact. Cheers

You believe in white hat, spam free but you were spamming other peoples blogs because they were dofollow :|

If you're only now giving up on blog comments, and moving onto link exchanges, you're years behind everyone else and you're not going to rank for anything competitive. If your niche is weak, it can still work though.

Links are going to cost you, one way or the other. Either in time, or in money. If you want to spend the former, go do lots of guest posts on related sites. If you want to spend the latter, go out and buy links, or go out and pay for widgets/tools/games or whatever that you can put on your own site that people might link to naturally (or that you can buy links to point at with no risk of getting caught).

Just found a perfect weblink, so I was naturally jumping with joy over it and had dreams of perfect traffic.

Unfortunately, they wanted £800 for an enhanced listing :( Might have paid £100 though, oh well... targeted yes, love all that, but £800 is too much to deliver what I need.

I looked at it and thought
Now how much traffic can it send me - 300 visitors a year? - tops....

Na, I doubt it.....

Links are very expensive now, -- Shocked :eek:

Okay I agree with most of the people here that are saying that you have to pay for backlinks but what about those free lancers who offer to give you quality backlinks how do they make backlinks and than sell them???

"quality" is subjective - a lot of them are just selling you garbage like forum links, blog comment spam, etc.

They are either outright buying links, or they are spending money on wages to have people spam other sites, or they are spending money on wages to have people contact sites and ask for links. So yes, they are spending money. The spammier the approach, the less they'll be spending though.

  • Contact related sites and ask if you can guest blog on their site.
  • List your site in dir.yahoo.com, botw.org.uk, business.com
  • ask suppliers/people you are in business with to link to you
Those are all completely spam free.

so how companies actually produces backlinks do they also spend money

Some companies or SEO agencies own hundreds / thousands of single web pages, or have bought expired domains, or simply own lots of low quality sites that they can link to you, and charge you for this.

I have seen on Fiverr that people are offering 2,000 links for $5 - take a moment to think about this, would you rather buy 10 pairs of jeans(or whatever) for £2 each, in the understanding they may fall to pieces after a few months, or spend £20 on one pair of quality jeans that will perform exceptionally well no matter how often you wear them?

Sorry about the jeans analogy, I couldn't think of anything better.

I have seen good links from JoeAnt and Brownbook. JoeAnt is paid for and Brownbook is free. Sales have also been proven from Brownbook, Freeindex, iSomerset (local directory), Hotfrog, Twitter and even Facebook - although I don't know your industry it might be worth spending an afternoon taking time to submit some detailed entries with good descriptions and images.

I think the general dir thing is over, too many tell-tale signs eg: no leads, evident from the zero clicks from my Hotfrog email reports - not even FreeIndex shows in my stats anymore.

Thomson dir now razor thin, local Yellow Pages will go the same way - its just over. Too many specialist sites are delivering, heck, their all ending up on Dragons Den including 2 wedding type directories on the irish show! etc etc.

Dunno why people bother chasing links that dont work. New ways of promoting websites will be developed, and people will always come back to price over famous branding it must do. Price and Targeting will dictate what advertisers use.

This will be about being seen adequately enough, and people will use what gets them the results the quickest, and users want speed, not necessarily depth. Depth means more wading, searching and that is time, which is what people want more of, so using different engines is the only way.

Links? its too crazy at the moment, too pricey and something needs to be done. £1000 for a link on some unheard of website - you gotta be nuts.

Depends on the niche you're in and the site the link is going on.

If you're in debt restructuring or payday loans you'd be crazy not to pay £1000 for a link on the bbc.co.uk or a big daily newspaper, as you'd easily see a good roi on it.

There are many opportunities for good backlinks. You should be building a business, so a little work in finding relevant links will pay you back in the long run.Too many people want instant results or try to get 1000 links for $5:D
Natural link building, that shadows the website page ranks on the internet will give your site authority over time, if the basics on page details have been done correctly.Quality and relevancy should be your objective.

What can be the possible factors which are not letting the PR of a page to increase and even make it fall

I would forget about PR and worry about relevant link building.

Do-follow blog links are getting devalued quicker and quicker, hence the reason why you have to keep building so many! Links that stick and relevant are what you want.. and who ever said there aren't enough linking opportunities is an odd one

Well, if you have some good PR pages of your website than you can give people will do link exchange without any problem but if you only have pages of 3 or 2 you will face very tough conditions to get links on higher page ranks so pages of high PR are the key of quality backlinks without any botheration

Yeah I think there are other ways to get link exchanges.... plus you are just diluting your page rank by linking out to X amount of sites you just swapped links with :|

Is Google Adwords a good short term fix to increase your status on the Google search engine without spending thousands on getting there and then work your site up naturally through back links and other natural ways? We are updating our website and will have some links to social networks but we are also running rss feeds and newslinks in an attempt to move up the ladder without costing too much - we are going to be adding/editing our own site? Anyone got any views on whether this works or if there is another way of moving up the site naturally without a massive amount of expense

Google adwords is not back linking nor will it help the Search engine rankings, but it can give your site traffic quickly if you have the budget for it.

i link is a link is a link

quality in the mind of joe public is = High PR home page keywords.

good luck with that::)

quality = diversity, people have to "mix it up" and pull in backlinks from a variety of places to increase serps etc

Well if you have B2B portal than you do need a high PR home page to leave a good impression on the visitor and I think the only way to do this is to increase number of backlinks actually quality backlinks on relevant High PR pages
