thanks - gave me a good laugh.

however - easy solution - Keith (Estwig) knows the industry, has experience of labourers - why not post your address and the address of the site - Keith can pick you up in the morning to take you there (and hand you the sandwiches he's made you en route) AND turn up half way through the day with a cup of tea for you - sorted.

My next task ... sorting the Somali pirate problem .....

i just want to clarify some things because it is obvious that this forum is full of unsucessful business people that think that 70 quid a day is a big deal.

Look at my income and my expenses and tell me how am i supposed to buy a house with my girlfriend if i stay on this crap money without any overtime btw my boss laughed at me when i told him about double pay on sunday which just proves that he is a exploiter...

my income: around £1400 a month cos we get one day off or twice a month with NO PAY
my outgoings:
car insurance: £120 a month
mobile phone: £35 a month
going out: £100 a week or around £400-£450 a month lets say £425
petrol for the car: £80 a month
laptop on finance: £35 a month
eating out: £150 a month
food and other crap: £250 a month
going on weekend trips twice a month: £200 a month

this is £1295 and of course the rest always is spent on MOT, car parts or something else like birthday presents...

so basically i have no way of getting on the property ladder and have to continue living with my parents who get on my nerves every day

i have a plan that will make it possible for me to get another £800 a month but for this i have to stop working 1 day a week which is impossible

Thats so funny - he spends more on 'pleasure' than he does on essentials, he spends more on food than I do for our entire family....I think this chain had been yanked enough, if this isn't a troll, then I think he should be reported to the mental health organisation, as he is definately off his trolley!

To the troll, sorry, OP, £70 is not a big deal for people who fund, own and run businesses, not for those who have YEARS (not 3 months and think they know it all) of experience, training and education - but for a labourer, commonly known as a 'manual worker' £70 a day is pretty good in most parts of the country - London may be a little higher, but they also have higher standards for their labourers too, no free lunches or lifts to work.

There is no law to say that any employer has to pay extra for weekend working - you do not acutally do more work than you do any other day, therefore it is no more valuable, and therefore not worth more. If you don't want the overtime, don't do it, there are others that will want it.

Try budgeting with what you have, you spend more on going out than most people do on a mortgage - I own commercial premises with a lower mortgage repayment than your 'going out' budget!

Your expenses prove how young and silly you are but it is not all bad, one day you will grow up.

By the way - you really put your foot in it by swearing - that really IS childish.

This is hilarious, it really does brighten my day when i read it!!

As far as Johnny33's outgoings are concerned its a joke, seriously man stop whinging and sort your life out.

Spending money on weekends away, takeaways and goign out is pissing money away. Also pay your car insurance yearly and you wont be paying finance charges and interest, same goes with buying the laptop, a few months wihout and you could have purchased outright saving loads.

You might be pulling our chains, or you might be seriously stupid - either way its highly amusing :p

Actually Johnny33 my boss is worse. He makes me work 7 days a week, 10 hours a day minimum. I get no paid holidays and I have to work every Bank Holiday for no extra money (he does give me Christmas day & Boxing day off though :)).

I have to open the shop, serve customers and be responsible for closing up, as well as all the housekeeping that goes with running a shop. I get no lunch break, but I'm allowed five minutes to use the "facilities". When I get home the ******* expects me to do paperwork as well - he doesn't pay me for that though.

Tonight if I'm luck I'll leave the shop at 6.30pm and then I'm expected to travel a 70 mile round trip just to pick up more stock from the cash and carry. For no pay!!!

And what is even worse, and pretty much really taking the piddle, is that if the shop doesn't make a profit he doesn't pay me.

I should really leave - it would be the sensible thing to do - it's difficult though when you are the boss as well :(

I have lots of fun and go out regularly in my sports car and have great fun in the nice house that I have worked really hard to pay for. Gosh I even worked overtime for free when I was crawling up that career ladder catching 2 buses and a train to work, and I went without lunch when I was busy, where did it all go wrong for me, I actually had to put some effort in to get on in life, wish I'd been starting out now, you seem to get it all on a plate.....great thread though, haven't laughed so much in ages!

Well now I know he's not for real as he suddenly has a car but in the original post he was forced to walk to work!

Ah, but he was complaining that he had to walk to the 'pickup point' Just think how much petrol he would have used if he actually had to drive to work! Shock horror - fancy having to get yourself to work and back

Still, I have had my say, ny two pennorth worth on the subject, so I guess this goes down to a great troll and it has kept us in the main amused for a couple of days whilst we sit around making our milions, on our bums.......

I only spend £40 on petrol!

You must push the car to work :D

This is an awesome thread, but I can't believe (or won't, I'm not sure I want to) that this is genuine...

I work at a builders merchants (sat on my arris, to be fair) and earn less than the OP, and I have to get to work using my own car... Worse still... I have to make my own sammiches (even the wife won't make them for me... Might change her for a new model I reckon!)

I'd train as a Java developer if I were you.

Why bother, you get the same attitudes in the developer world.

What you need to do is find a better company to work for irrelevant of the job type i.e. labourer, java developer.

Find a work from home job, then you do not need to do any of this.

Set yourself up as self employed then you do not need a boss.

This guy is classic

First off you're only 20 so you actually know jack about things you think you're an expert at. £10/hour for a 7 hour day isn't to be sniffed at for a beginner. And that's what you are, based purely on the amount of years you could possible have experience as being a labourer.

Me, I worked my ass off for years to get myself into a position to start up on my own. Hated some of my jobs, but it was a means to an end. A plan!

You think you're going to magically get paid more money just because you think you should? lol The only way you will ever earn a lot of money is by using your initiative and playing the game, not by whinging about how bad your life is.

Don't like your job? Do something about it - I would be willing to bet that the way you're feeling, you probably don't put 100% effort in every day. Maybe try doing that and reap the benefits that come. SUCK IT UP! You might even go home with a smile on your face knowing you actually earned your crust. Your boss might even start to like you and pick you up on the way in if you stop being a whinging, miserable git.

Secondly - learn some respect for people who (like your boss) have done the above. They earned their sandwiches, mate :)
