i worked for a firm for 3 years as a salesperson within a firm. Got good then went off to do something else. 2 Years later im in a position where I have become self employed doing the exact same thing bringing in a good amount of profit.

I don't just want to be self employed I want to run a business and have employees that do the sales for me. people to chase the outstanding credit and someone to maintain/manage the eCommerce store if/when I go down that route.

How on earth do i start to think about expanding ? Do I get the sales procedure down to a T so it can be replicated and bring on another sales guy or get someone in to do administration ?

Whenever I feel like employing someone makes me more money than it costs. My first employee was someone to do packing because I thought I could go and get more sales in the 20 hours a week I was saving than I was having to pay the employee.

I don't know anything about telesales but think you have to nail the sales first. Start making £30 a hour profit on the phone then pay someone £15 an hour to do the same

That's about 6k a month profit. I had that in my head actually. I think between now and then it would be in my best interest to get a system going with the sales that would be easily transferable to a new starter.

get the sales process replicatable. At same time do a fag packet business plan. How much do you want the business to give you in 3 years and what sort of business you need to give you that. then work back to now. Do not do a business plan building from now - always from where you wan to be.

That's great advice. I had been up to this point been working my business plan forwards. It's got me a great "job" working for myself but to take it to the next step you are right I need to know exactly what I want the business to give me in 3 years and find out what I need to do to get me there ! Thanks profitxchange. I will take a look at the mentor stuff you do when I start moving forward more.

Agreed, it's changed my way of thinking about the business to be honest with you. Set some financial targets and im now looking at an easier CRM system that I can train myself to use easily then train someone else to use too.

Just trying to change my mindset from creating myself a job to starting a company with employees.

Hoping to hit my financial targets to employ a salesperson within 4/5 months or so.
