Actually, since I launched my business 5 months ago, my blog has been phenomenal at driving traffic. It's probably one of the top 3 things very start-up should do.

The Amazona Blog (can't add a URL here apparently because I am new!)
A fashion and lifestyle resource for women telling them what to wear, how to wear it and most importantly - where to find it in tall sizes. We also discuss lifestyle issues faced by tall women and hopefully make them laugh too!

Do have a look. Any feedback would be welcome. I'm trying to develop it as a business resource but find it hard to strike a balance between posting interesting stuff and marketing the site to get hits.

Once I can get some real traffic the idea is to sell advertising space. I tried Google Adwords but it wasn't a success as some posts got some really strange and unrelated adverts.

Looks an interesting site. Why not set up a sub-section on say web hosting and get one of the web design or hosting companies who post here to sponsor it and/or provide editorial?

Hi, I'm Nic Soto, your Social Marketing Mama! Ok, so you have a business idea, perhaps selling your prized handcrafted jewelry, offering up your unique talents for organizing, selling a family recipe, unique fashion designs or something along those lines. Yet, no real buzz has been generated about YOUR business, no-one has featured you, traffic is pretty much non-existent and you're starting to wonder how in the world can you market your business on a low budget? Well, you've come to the right place.

I'm quite new to blogs but just set up a horse racing tips site for a relative ay blogspot. It's interesting to go through the whole process of setting it up, marketting, content creation, exchanging links and so on. Once you've gone through that once, I think it's easier to replicate in the future.

I've not worked out what my blog is about yet. Small business, entrepreneurism, Sage, SaaS, etc

I'm currently working on off14.com (news about the next version of Microsoft Office). It's mostly speculation at this stage as MS are cagey about releasing too much info ahead of time.

Is it going to be SaaS (or more likely S+S)?

I've mentioned this blog already today in an earlier post (I swear I dont know the guy or receive any sort of commission lol!) but a good blog is
english cut
This comes up first in googles organic listings if you type in saville row tailor. It is a good blog that has worked amazingly well over time. The thing with blogs is that you do have to give them time, but if updated regularly and written well (with title appearing in the content) amongst other things then they can increase your ranking in google.

Im sorry, but how do you expect people to take you serious in the SEO/SEm/Social Marketing world if you wont invest in a domain name and hosting for yourself?

I'm greedy! I currently have three on the go. One for my main business (shipping and freight forwarding)

http:// wavecrestlimited.choseit.com

This has been up and running since last Autumn and has so far been giving me quite good results.

My other two are something to do in my (scarce) spare time!

See my sig...

I'm just going to start reading the blogs posted, so I'll post some feedback if anything warrants it :)

I just do my blog more as a diary for myself... Don't do it to drive traffic or anything. Mainly just me yabbering on about my business and entreprenuers/small business/etc.

I try to include a little bit of everything that slants slightly towards training, whilst being a little bit fun in my blog. http://trainerbubble.blogspot.com/

I liked the balance of your blog. Yes, of course you're trying to push your products and services (I doubt anyone here could blame you for that), but it's quite possible to read and gain something from your blog without having to buy anything. As you say, it helps to included a bit of humour from time to time too.
