I am just about to invest in a start up company. The name the owner has for the company so far is not right so I need a new one.

The company runs Childrens Residential Homes. The kids that come in are usually on the autism spectrum so will often have learning difficulties and sometimes behavioural issues. Children will be from 8-18.

I dont want the name to sound like an institution nor something too soft and fluffy. It needs to suggest 'care, support and development' whilst sounding professional and modern. Apparently the usual format for such things is 'XXX Childrens Services' so it may have to fit in that sort of format, but not neccessarily.

I've come up with a few ideas (I wont post them yet as I dont want to influence your thinking !)

So.....thinking caps on.... time to be creative UKBF.... any suggestions?

It depends on who your main clinets are and who your are trying to reassure.

Is it the parents /students/ families?

Or is it Education Professionals
Or a bit of both.

From what I know of autistic children what they and their families are looking for above all else is a safe environment where the students will not be intimidated or bullied by professionals (or sudden situations or other students) but have time to settle and take ownership of thier space and learning.

I like the concept of 'giving them the key'
So they can keep out unwanted threats and feel safe and also the key to unlock their potential and open up their future. Being in control of their situation seems an important issue as does trust and consistency.

Keystone - Building a solid foundation
Key2life - Giving autistic children a furture
Forwardkey Services
Lifekey Children's services

As Christine says, the name will depend on the audience. Presumably each residential home will have its own name, so are you looking for a name that will only be seen in the corporate world? Investors will probably prefer something traditional and conservative and similar to existing companies as this will suggest that you are familiar with the sector.

I suggest a name including a positive word like Headway, Potential, Prospects, Inspired or those Christine suggested.

If you're looking to generate new leads via a website, then it's worth making your name represent what you do, since a decent website address will help in search results. "Lush longboards" > www.lushlongboards.com for example helps when people are searching for "longboards". Don't make it too long though!

Perhaps have a look at brandbucket.com too.
