Hi, Im 18 and interested in starting up a business to help me make some money while in study.

I want to order a few pairs of sunglasses from china, maybe 5 or 10 pieces to check for quality and to see if the supplier is reliable, I have been talking to one person from china who is a wholesaler or claims to be and is selling what I want, I found him on tradekey

my question is , if i place an order for 10 pieces, what will I have to pay in regards to tax, duty or anyother legal issues I might have to clear so there wouldn't be a problem with customs? Im not even sure if I need to pay anything if the order is small as mine

any advice will be appriciated
thank you

If you are ordering from abroad and there is a company sourcing it for you it should be very straight forward as they would sort any isssues out, I bought form china did not have any problems my manufacture organised everything, plus your order so small could be posted as a small package i think.

Good Luck

Can you get me the following information from your supplier...

Weight In KG
Dimentions (LxWxH)
Number Of Pieces (5/10 I will quote you on)

Once you have got these from your supplier, can you send me the price for 5 sunglasses and then for 10 sunglasses I will be able to then work out how much it will all cost.

Cheers

Have you checked the minimum order quantity? Also are you buying designer sunglasses? If so it will be very difficult to find a legitimate supplier as many of the big brands deal directly with manufacturers, however if you're not dealing with brand named sunglasses, is there really a profit to be made?

I've had the same idea before however realised it's not really the best of ideas as far as making money was concerned.

How will you be sure the 5 or 10 pieces you'll receive are really representative of the larger batch you'd buy later?

hey im not an expert or anything but i think it would be logically a good idea first to research abit on the people your importing from... i.e websites , contact numbers and so on... so jus to cover your back basically ... as thers alot of misleading that goes on in south east asia... but good luck

Am not trying to steal the boys supplier, He is asking for costs of the import and what charges are involved.

With the info I have asked for, I will be able to give him the list of costs that would be forwarded to him with importing into the UK.

Various people on here know I ask for that info when their asking for quotes or charges.

It is a fact you do need a really trustworthy manufacture when dealing with the far east, i was lucky but it did take a while. and met a few untrustworthy characters.

But still need to know what type of sun glasses you are thinking about, childrens, adults, designer or other?

If you get them delivered to your home (which I guess will be the case) there will be no tax as it will be classed as personal post by the supplier.

I also guess you are buying replica sunglasses for resale (possibly on ebay), if so be very wary of doing this as might make you a few bob to start with but is not a credible long-term business and you would be better putting your efforts into something more legit.

If it is not replica's but your own design, you must be able to get them made where your from cheaper.

hey,boy!

i think you don't need consider too much about the tax,all you should take into consideration is that if you can make extra money from this deal
you just need ask your suppliars give you a CIF price, many chinese are pleased to do this,as for your small orders about 5-7 sun glasses per time,he/she can deliver it to you directly,no tax and other costs!
