Hello,

I have a new website. To improve the SEO, I have created a new footer with most of the links to the website (Looks pretty clean too).

I want to know if this helps me with the SEO. Since I have created this the Alexa ranking has increased! (not a good sign).

Please advice.

I would not worry about alexa unless your site is in the top 5000 or so - below this it is not very accurate.

Keep an eye on search traffic volume, number of different keywords, and the landing pages those keywords end up on.

You changes may have a small effect, but generally only if your top menu did not have those links, or it is in Flash or JavaScript.

Links from the footer are good. Make sure you do not repeat any link on the home page. Remember, Home is the most important page in terms of link-juice so you want to use it judiciously.

Best linking to your tier-2 pages.

I hope you have done your keyword research and your anchor text reflects that ?
