Hi,

I've just found www.milliondollarhomepage.com and think it's a great idea of making money! However it seems more relevant to the U.S than the U.K. Is there a U.K equivilent? If not do you think I could set one up without clashing with copyrights? And then how would I go about it?

Just an idea - release your critique!

Thanks

Liam

there are already hundreds or thousands of people that have copied the idea, and several people selling scripts making it very easy to set up a similar site.

MillionDollarHomepage got lots of publicity because it was an original idea - now that a million copies spring up, how are they going to publicise themselves?

That would depend on how you publicise! There's more than google adwords out there!

Actually, I first heard about MDH.com in my local rag, a few days later it was on The Register and then the mainstream press got hold of it and it was massive.

That idea's been done. Move on!

Get a paper round...then when you think of this big biz, you'll be able to post flyers at the same time to advertise it :D

What is it with you lot and this stereotypical teenage paper round thing?! Not all of us are desperate for money for smoking or drug addictions! Tut

But Urban - you have to start at the bottom and work your way up. We all got frozen fingers from delivering papers before school, which is why we learnt that working hard is a pre-requisite to success!

But like most typical teenages...they don't listen

What is wrong with delivering papers, i've done it! Hope you don't think it's not good enough for you? Money is money, how ever you earn it.

I had a few paper rounds when I was a teenager, but used to outsource the delivery part of it :D :D

No frozen fingers and a small profit ;)

Very clever Tony :D

I enjoyed taking the papers out, it's lovely walking early morning.

Have things changed that much that the younger generation don't want to start at the beginning? I started with a paper round, then improved my career prospects by washing up in a little, smelly restaurant; then making tea and coffee in the local bus station (while fending off the drunken down and outs); then working on a fruit and veg stall - don't ask for sprouts at Christmas, it's very cruel to the guys serving as they're like ice cubes to pick up!, then delivering leaflets in the rain, etc. etc. etc. all by the age of 14/15.

Get out and get some experience in as many different jobs as possible Urban! Even if you don't stay in each job for long, you'll learn lots about how you should, and more importantly shouldn't, run a business!

Nagging over! :D

What you have to remember is that when we were young ecommerce was a mere twinkle in our daddies eyes. Now with the web and these techie kids, there is no need for them to freeze their Nuts off. Besides who can live on £10 a week nowadays.

The 'stereotypical' part is assistance we're trying to give you to get yourself going. It's not money for drugs or whatever you want to imagine. You're right, you don't need to be desperate for money, but you need the desperation fopr the drive and motivation. Paper delivery will lead to independence, and the money you earn may well be just enough to further your quest for your dream, be it a business book or a bit of 'stock' to sell. You have already read that heaps of us have sold papers - don't knock it!!

cheers, Nigel
