Hi there

we are currently in the process of having a new website built.

I was looking for some advice.

For a short period of time we will be keeping the old websites (e.g. www.drainagesomerset.co.uk) as well as having a Somerset page on the new website.

I am looking for a way of tracking which website the calls are coming from?

Is it better to set up one phone number for each location i.e South West, South Eat, Midlands, London and have the call all re-route to our main number. So I would be able to trace which website the customers were viewing.

Many Thanks for reading.

Hi James,

From what you are describing I would recommend marketing numbers. These are numbers that are used in specific campaigns (website) and direct traffic to another number (your main number). You can then view the number of calls each number has had and when to measure the success of the campaign. If required you can even have the incoming call inform you where the caller found it so you are forewarned and can handle the call appropriately.

We would normally recommend using local or other relevant numbers for each campaign.

If you would like to discuss your requirements please give me a call on 033 33 58 33 33 or PM me.

Kind regards,

Stuart.

Probably the simplest way is to have a number for each site set up as an extention on a virtual PBX then point them both at the single telephone.

That means that you get seperate call records for each number and you can easily see the volumes for each. Additionally setting up line presentation on them means that you can identify where each call is coming from and answer them with the appropriate name. Here:

http://www.voipfone.co.uk/Line_And_Number_Presentation.php

It sounds expensive and complicated but it isn't. £2 for a number and £1 for an extension monthly. Line prentation and call records are free. You can have any kind of number you like but we normally suggest 01 or 02, local numbers.

Give us a call on 020 7043 5555 if you need to talk it through.

Hi James,

I'd say just go with the guy above or a site like soho66, that's who I use for about 10 numbers and its pretty easy to use and cheap too.
