Lamest Million Dollar homepage clone yet?

Hi,

In agreement, the next thing he done was always going to get so much attention due to the success of his previous one.
One trick pony springs to mind, he needs to come up with something more unique than this if he is to be taken seriously.

But at least we know what we've got to look forward to in the future - people trying to sell pixel lotteries over the next 6 months. I can barely wait.

Good point - wonder when the first of the emails wil start to arrive!

I need to get in contact with him. I've got a great idea, and he seems to have the know how to carry it off. Besides, I don't have the time for it.

Don't you and your husband talk anymore? ;)

No, great minds think alike.

Although, Andy 10Yetis also started a thread on this topic which means we must be strangly linked.

It might turn out that his greatest asset isn't the $1M he made or even the publicity he got from MDHP but the database of people who advertised on and enquired about it.

All he has to do is email all of them with the latest version and voila - another chunk of change in the bank.

I think that this idea is pretty poor, however if its making money well done to him. Although if I had made a stack like that I would not be putting it into the same idea with a lottery attached.

I think the main reason he has done this is basically to get more publicity to keep himself in the media eye. If he were to start a mining business in the valleys then knowone would hear about it or care to much.

Just seen our chum Alex on the ITV news. It amazes me how he manages to get there.

Anyway people don't realise that it was very unlikely he made a million dollars. Around about 40-50% of the ad's on the first page were affiliate links (I can already spot a few on pixelotto). Secondly I bet his hosting bills were a fortune throughout the year or two it's been operational.

Well - to be fair - he's got us talking about it, and likewise with 100's other forums etc. Was even on BBC news pages today. So - even though the idea may be pretty lame, and similar to his last idea (which I agree was nothing special), the fact he's generating so much free viral marketing etc will mean it'll do well.

I'll be honest and admit that I just purchased a small 10x10 link from him earlier this morning... Bizarely , we've already had one potential web design client phone us (saying they found us on pixelotto), and a look at our logs shows (so far) nearly 100 click throughs from his site... so he's certainly getting the traffic!!!

The other reason for getting in early is also Google Pagerank. He's not got one at the moment, but its only a matter of time.

But to get the affilate schemes on MDHP someone would have had to purchased the pixels. Hes aleady on 107600, up 12500 from yesterday!!

It's true that it's hardly radically different from the previous site. Then again he probably thought if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Bottom line is that I assume he's doing it for the money and reasoned he could live off his previous success with this one - and if he gets loads of money from re-flogging what we thought was a dead horse then fair play to him. But it wouldn't work for anyone else: surely it's only getting money on the strength of the previous idea and in spite of this one, so I really hope we don't get too many clones this time round...!

Strange thing is that by going on about his site, you are actually helping him make his millions by marketing the site for him.
Yep, and bringing traffic to our own sites :p
I'm on there too, man I love pixels.
Anything that gives links from the homepage is awsome, forget all that clicking around page after page of text.

The prize fund has really slowed down over the last 2 days. I think it's only increased by $3k, whereas it originally was rising at a stupid rate. Still, I wouldn't mind $3k in 2 days for doing sweet FA.

That's great news, the longer my ad stays on there, the better. At the rate it was going I thought it would only be there a month.

This has certainly died down now. The PR company must have only been working 1 day a month
