Justification for Meetings with Clients - Do You?

OK, let's look at it another way.

Imagine you are the customer and you are wanting to purchase a £300 website and you have been advised it would take around 3 days to do it. You then ask for a meeting and the web designer says "yeah sure, I'll travel 60 miles round trip and take half a day out to do this".

Don't you think to yourself "gosh, this chap is working for peanuts and perhaps he isn't very good if he is that desperate?"

Just another view point :)

Is that another definition of what this thread is for? I would never have known. :|

Don't be confused, as you well know my comment was in response to you moaning about people being anonymous, so as each and every one of your past and future customers can read this thread, show me one post that will encourage them to use your services. If you can find one I'll show you ten that will, in my opinion, loose you customers.

Challenge set :)

....or this guy is obviously very customer focused and keen to do a great job and build a long lasting business relationship and obviously hopes to secure future and more profitable business as my company grows.

I use a graphic design chap, first job was just 500 business cards, worth next to nothing. We did have that first meeting x years ago and for all he knew the cards were the only job on offer - in fact at the time they were. But because we built a relationship he has since done a good few thousand pounds worth of work on signs, fliers, ad's etc since.

We have to remember that all of this is dependent on how much people need the work and how hungry they are.

I don't have meetings, but have never been asked. I think justification depends. Does the client need it, are they worth it, is it how you want to do business?

Really it's down to you and what works for you. If you don't want to do meetings just say "I don't do meetings".

IMO and experience it's only middle management heavy companies which need meetings and report after report normally goes hand in hand with that. Contracts where I deal directly with the directors / owners of a business are generally too busy building their business than to sit around and chat looking like they're working.

Maybe you could make this really clear on your website so that clients appreciate this before they contact you - my firm operates online only and doesn't offer client client meetings. I have never once had a client (or potential client) for who it has been a problem.

Agree, you should post on your site for the clints appreciate it before:D
