Can anyone please share their favourite websites for image purchase, the requirements are for 3 thumbnail images. I would need full rights and an estimated cost?

www.123rf.com is pretty good.

www.pixmac is another I use from time to time (mainly because I got a good deal on credits some time ago).

www.dreamstime.com is good for decent sized freebies.

If you are dealing with stock images you will not be buying the image. You will be buying a licence to use the image. If you buy a RF licence you will not have 'exclusive rights' because the same image will be licenced many times and could also be used by your rivals. Read very carefully the stock agency's T&Cs because they all vary to some degree. You might discover that an image used on your website cannot be used on staff T-shirts or promotional mugs without a hefty extra payment.

What does image buying mean?

Any images you use for websites, emails, or indeed anything, must be:
a) owned by you (ie. pictures you have taken or created), or
b) you have bought the rights to use them (through an image supplier like www.istockphoto.com)

I suggest - http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/ . I haven't used it myself, but some of my friends have and they are happy with the results. Seems like a really good picture collection.
