Hi, its been a while since I last posted.

I am a long time user of Quickbooks, originally desktop and since that was discontinued in 2023 I have been using Quickbooks online. Its never been "the best" but its done what I needed. I use it for sales invoicing, purchases, stock control and also use the foreign currency feature as I also deal with overseas suppliers and payments. I also have it connected to a WooCommerce website so stock and website orders are synced with QBO (Something else that stopped working properly since the update)

Recently Quickbooks introduced what they call the "modern theme" and it is becoming impossible to use. Somehow Intuit have made it slower, the navigation and menu system is not as good, page layout is worse and its just generally a bit "clunky" to use. I also keep getting a massive pop up banner saying I can get business funding. I use Quickbooks to do a job, I dont want to be harassed by pop ups for business funding when all I need to do it sort out invoices, and even the basic stuff is taking 2 or 3 times longer to get done because of the changes.

Can anyone recommend another platform that is around the same cost as QBO but does the job better as I am almost at the point I cant keep working with it.

The main things I need......
Individual customer / supplier records
Sales invoices
Purchases
Stock control
Sales orders would be an added bonus but I have used estimates in QBO as sales orders wasnt a thing
Foreign currency
WooCommerce connection for stock and order sync (Currently using a 3rd party plugin for QBO)
Easy to use / navigate / fast page load times

I thnk that covers the most important requirements

I am glad I am not the only one frustrated with QuickBooks new look. I complained to them shortly after it was launched and also when speaking to an agent. She claimed it was because of the new rules surrounding MTD.

Personally, I think it comes down to organisations thinking it's a good idea to refresh and revamp their 'look' and probably justifies some peoples jobs (a bit cynical i know, but I genuinely believe it). As a small business owner, 'doing the books' is a chore and I am no expert in knowing what should go where. After taking what seems like forever, to just about work my way around, they then go and change it all, and i have to learn my way around again. Very frustrating.

In answer to your question about recommending another platform, i think you will find they are all the same and whilst someone may say X or Y is better, it won't be long until the same things happen there.

For me, I'm seriously thinking of going back to good old spreadsheets and word docs, I can't see any real benefit in spending so much time fiddling around a system.

Honestly, this has been the bane of my life since Desktop finished being supported and we moved to Online.

I have exactly the same requirements as you bar the Woocommerce part and I want to use Quotes > Sales Orders > as what we quote isn't what a final order may be sometimes. then I lose what was quoted originally with this current set up.

The new layout is shockingly bad.
Why is Copy to Invoice and Copy to Purchase Order under different buttons!?!
And don't get me started on the right sidebar that now pops up every time you go into a record!?! WTF! Grr.

I have been leaning to Zoho One but the company is too scared to make the jump just now.
But equally any other alternative out there would be good. People have suggested Odoo but I didn't like it much.
