My daughter has grown up in our business- working the till from the age of eight on a Saturday.
She is now finishing her A levels and is thinking about University. She told me last night that she wanted a "gap year" before she went.
Not to go backpacking around the world or even to sit in her room all day. She wants to open a shop for a year so she won't be lumbered with a huge debt (she assumes success, bless her). She says if it doesn't work she will have learnt, and if it does she can go to Uni after putting a Manager in to run it for her.
Her Dad is happy - he is not a fan of University at the best of times. I am proud - I think. Have we created a true Retailer ?
