Hi Everyone,

I have just joined UKBF to ask for help and support for the launch of my business. My business is a social enterprise that will help businesses genrate sales and the profits will be set aside to operate a food bank via my church in Plymouth.

I'm looking forward to getting the maximum banefits from this forum and listen to the help and advice provided by its members.

Hi Gareth and welcome to UKBF.

Had a look at your site and not sure what it is supposed to be. Most of the links don’t work or lead to empty pages.

Hi Fisisx,

Whoops sorry I forget to turn off the site for now as I've only recently start putting the site together, so I've now put the site offline.

In short, I'm building a range of tools to help businesses carry out various tasks, in short operate a one-stop shop to help my clients carry out various tasks and save time and money.

Over the next two months, people will be able to access tools to carry out various assessments (risk, fire risk, COSHH, etc) then save the information and create/print PDFs.

The site will allow business clients to save information about their business so when we launch our low-cost directory enquiry service customers will be able to call a platinum telephone number that I have bought and rather than search sites like Google they will be able to make a free call/low rate call and find a business, products and or other information about the business.

Callers will also be able to either get connected to the business or receive an SMS with the appropriate information.

I've joined UKBF to get ideas on what to add to my site to make life easier for my clients to carry out their business, as I will provide a range of tools to help them comply with various legal requirements or practical and helpful tasks.

The profits I generate from businesses that join my business will be used to operate a foodbank in my church. I intend to set up a foodbank that will not only provide food for humans but will cater for animals as well as providing practical goods that are needed for day to day needs like toilet rolls, women sanitary products and offer people who need emergency financial help by offering loans for electricity/gas which if they repay it back, can return to get funds again.

This is a basic breakdown on how my business will operate and what I intend to do with the majority of my profits. It's because of my faith is why I want to do this, as every time I read or watch about people suffering has driven me to do something about it.

I'm guessing that some people will say that I am mad, but I simply feel that I'm being driven to use my skills to help businesses as well as being able to help as many people as possible.

Gareth

Still don't get it. If I need to do a fire risk assessment I'll do a Google search for an assessor. If I need to do a COSHH assessment I can download free templates and do it myself.

And business directories are well past their sell by date. Google has made them pretty much redundant. There are a few that still have value but they are long established.

Why would I need to call you to find out about a business? I can search google, companies house and other resources to find out everything I need.

I think your plan to donate the profits to a food bank are admirable but I doubt your business will make enough to even cover the hosting costs.

    Hi @iHubbi.uk

    Welcome to the forum.

Have you carried out any market research on the need for your product/service?

I, like most people would google for the information that I need to call your platinum number for? Google is surely far quicker so why would people call your number?

    Hi Gareth

First let me say that you aim to create a very fulfilling business model that I hope you see massive success with.

As with previous comments it does sound like people could easily just Google a lot of the information you will be providing but then you could argue why bother providing any info on any subject ever when people could just Google it.

What I think your advantage could be is to make your business a one stop shop so that visitors have everything at hand without the need to do any further searching on Google.

As I read your description I thought of businesses like RightMove who provide all the details in one place of everything to do with a property for sale or rent. And then all the details are available to connect with the relevant agent.

I would suggest you don't spread yourself too thinly by trying to provide too much information but instead become extremely good and detailed on a few particular areas.

    Good luck
