Hi all,

I was looking on the internet the other day when I came across a website listing a number of crowd sourced companies.
For those that don't know, a crowd sourced company is one where a number of people pay X amount of pounds to buy in to this company, but there are normally a few thousand people, and you dont have to have any qualifications etc to buy in, you just pay the money over.

Well, this got me thinking, would UKBF members even considering setting up a company between them?

The reason I ask, is that all of these companies have little experience in business management, but the majority are a success.
So, if this is the case for them, I was wondering what UKBF members could do, considering the majority are business owners.

Anyone thought about this?

Im not sure i understand exactly what this involves?

We all run a business together?

We give some one money and they run it?

I've moved this to General Business - I'm not sure you meant to post it in Introductions!

Basically yes, we all run a business together.

On this forum there are web designers, VOIP experts, leaflets designers/printers etc etc, all of which could add real value to a company.

The basic idea is that we get a group of members, use the skills of the group to create and expand the business, the direction of the company etc is up to the owners and what is done with money is upto the owners.

Just curious if anyone had ever considered it.

The profits from the company could go to a charity or something like that, dont know, just an idea, thanks for moving the post Paula.

P.S. I realise I have posted in the wrong section of the forum

I wouldn't mind depending on what it was. I dont mind offering a free website with free hosting

If you could get it set up and find somebody to be a managing director then go for it, and then get people to apply to do different things, i think it would be great do to but very hard to set up

so in other words the ukbf would become one giant conglomorant. This is not such a bad idea. there are seo, data marketers, some real estate people, web designers it could be quite a diverse corperation. you should write up a proposal

mmmm, agreeing to set up a company before anyone knows what it will do!!

Count me in!

No one is agreeing to set-up a company, I was merely interested to see if such an idea had been considered before, considering the skills and experience users on here posses.

The fact of the matter is that most of the members of the forum are quite busy in trying to grow their own business at the moment, so may not be able to actually get involved the way you'd maybe want.

There was talk a number of months ago about getting some sort of joint effort going a while back, but it fell by the wayside.

It's a nice thought in theory but would be a nightmare to get going. If the company is set up to offer services provided by many of the posters such as printing, design, internet etc. then this would just detract from their own businesses. The problem then is what would the company do as it's core business. If anyone has a good idea that is worthwhile are they just going to hand it over instead of do it themselves? Last of all and probably the final nail in the coffin, there are so many strong characters on here that there would be so much time spent argueing that very little forward momentum would take place. It would be fun to read a thread where this is trying to be set up though so I say lets go for it.

P.s. I know a good site for a chip shop?!?!

What about an events management company? Would need all sorts of service's,

web design
printing
marketing
seo

everything i can think off. could be fun as well.

This idea is muted every so often and whilst being a good thing there are too many variables to make it work.

For instance, we have lots of web designers on here, hosting is well represented, a few accountants, quite a few individual companies that just wouldnt fit in, so who, where and when do you draw the line.

I would be willing to take part in such a venture, I am already starting a not-for-profit enterprise (tanyascharities.com).

However, choosing a good feasible idea and a strong management team is absolutely imperative for it to succeed.

But whether it fails or suceeds, it would certainly be a great experiment.

Interesting outcome.

I agree about a new business affecting other peoples business, but that really only seems to be the other issue for people.

I could be wrong, if so, please feel free to point out the obvious.
