Google Adwords?

Hi,

I would like my site to be promoted and heared about google adwords. Does it work? I heared that you need to bid for your place, so will I be bidding against all the 'big fish' just to get my site promoted?

If there are any other promotion tools that are reccommend then please let me know.

all depends on which keywords you will be bidding for... you can set a daily budget as well for each campaign... to keep an eye on the your spend.

I would recommend sticking with ppc between 10p and 40p anything above that it's going to be not worth it..unless if you can afford it...

you can setup campaigns and budget for them on daily bases...so lets say each campaign per day just £1.

I spend between 10p and 40p on my adverts per click.. I choose spot 6 and 5 if I can, as they are more likely to be clicked.

in terms of conversions.. i was told for traffic Google is best used.. but in terms of sales, overture from Yahoo is better.

I prefer the overture system, as the bidding less aggressive and you can see what others are bidding for. while in google, your spot is determined over time by your CTR (click through rate) and your advert performance.

I bought a system called Beating Adwords which i have found absolutely amazing. Its about $97 but i have made that back many times over.

I have also signed up to a site which gives excellent advice on internet marketing. And although it is predominantly geared towards affiliate marketing the principals are all the same.

A suggestion which would carry more weight without the affiliate ids in the links.

I was recommending an affiliate marketing program. I presumed he wasnt an idiot, it was clearly going to be and affiliate link. Although I could have disguised it if it would have made anyone feel better.

Doesnt take away from the fact that I believe its a great programme, and I sell more than enough of it in other places, that genuinely was advice. No skin off my nose if its not wanted.

I've used google adwords in the past however not any more, they've stop advertising lottery sites

Im going to use it, currently i am recieving a steady stream of traffic without it - and i have froogle...

but i will definatly use adwords. I would be stupid not to...

I've used adwords for a while (3 months) and spent about £200 - £300. I am some way off recouping that money so I have scaled down my projects using it. I think you get very casual browsers with adwords.

Anyone got any specific feedback on Froogle? How effective is it?

I'm using it very successfully to promote www.kashflow.co.uk

Although for some terms I'm paying around £2 per click!

I've recently enlisted some help to get the most out of it and it's been very useful. Speak to Paul Smith ( [email protected] ) to have a chat and see if he can help. He's very cheap and is just about now saving me what he charges. Tell him I recommended him : )

Hi Terry

Before you even consider the technicalities of putting a adwords campaign
together, you need to understand a basic truth. My guiding philosphy is:

"Become Your Customer"

You've probably heard this a thousand times but so many people fail to follow it, your customer doesnt give a damn about you,
your company or what you sell. All they care about is "whats in it for me?"

Keeping this basic truth etched into your mind, you need step back a bit and review your offerings from your prospects point of view. You have a website, so is the page your prospect is going to land on, aligned with the question that she was asking?

remember she has a question in her mind so answer it?Promise in your adwords ad to provide a solution in the form of abenefit and then lead her to the solution.

Keyword research is critical to your success, so review your keywords in the context of

a) Your Own Business
b)Adwords Profitability

What your looking for Terry when researching keywords is as follows: High number of searches for keywords/keyphrases that are not so
competitive so not only will you get seen on the first page but your cost per click will be minimum. Providing you've written a good adwords ad, and it continues with the same theme when the prospect clicks through to the landing page, your CTR (Click Through Rate) will be high, your bid prices for keywords and keyphrases will be reduced and Google will reward you with a high position, because the "RELEVANCY" of your ad.

Your cost per click and daily budget depends on the keywords and keyphrases you select. Try to spend your time putting together a long keyword list, this is the key difference between companies who spend spend spend, who dont know the value per visitor and the educated marketer who carefully selects word and phrases which receive alot of searches which has virtually no competition, all because you took that bit longer finding those golden words.

It really depends on the service/ product you are offering. I offer a service to many companies and find it works very well. But you do have to monitor it - make sure that you are spending your money wisely. Personally I check what time of day people call, what their call relates to and I ask them what they searched for, and I have never had anyone not tell me. This has enabled me to focus my effort into a space of 2 hours per day, cos thats where my 80% comes from.
As to actualy keywords to pick initally, I spent a lot of time and money on this and then found out there were free tools available.


Digital point do an excellent little tool which allows you to focus by country which is great for those of us in the UK
good keywords is a nifty piece of freeware that allows you again to check by poularity of the keyword.

google have a search suggestino beta available allows you to type in a search phrase and it will siggest by what people are searchign for recently.- But it is not country specific

If you are interest Aaron WAll does some excellent books on this sort of thing (it's where I got these links from)

The initial mistake I made was going for somethign too generic, and not 'specialist' enough. I only a couple of search terms now whic hmean I pay a lot less for the whole thing. And I aint competing on some of the silly prices some of the unthinking corporates pay as a rule.

Have I gone mad? Possibly, but that's something different. Why do I say that PPC costs nothing? Because it shouldn't. It should actually pay you, if you're doing it right. Let me explain...

PPC is just a form of marketing, like any other. Hence what you're REALLY concerned about it ROI (Return On Investment). So it doesn't matter how much a click costs. If you're paying $20 per click, but for every ten clicks you're making $300 is that a good deal? Yes. Because it's making a 150%ROI. For every $1 you spend, you're getting $1.50 back.

Looking at it in this light, all of a sudden you can see what I mean. PPC shouldn't cost you anything, because if you're doing it right, it's going to pay back more than it costs. If it doesn't, it's not worth doing, or more likely you're doing it wrong.

Do you have to pay to join adwords initially or is it literally just when someone clicks on a word you have bid on?

Thanks for that. I think I've just had a conversation with you on the removed from google post. Am I sad or what I've just spent far too much time posting and searching this forum today but I've got some time on my hands and I'm wanting to learn as much as possible as quickly as possible. Thanks for you help anyway ebonybailey.

There is a £5.00 setup fee with adwords. It is taken out of your first deposit.
