Google add words guide page (thingey-me-bob)

Hi all!

Ok - first off, I now little to nothing about adwords, so witht that in mind ive just been reading through the google 'intro' pages about it.

Ive come to the part where you can enter your daily budget and CPC amount for whatever key word (s) you have etc, and then get a guide on how well it will all perform - est add position, clicks per day and what have you.

My question is, how reliable is this guide info?

Im thinking that its in googles best interest to present the best poss picture, or am I wrong, and are they sensible enough to know a fair estimate will serve them better in the long run?

Im also guessing that this guide info is based on googles own historic data from other users - is that correct?

The estimated positions tend to either be right (particularly if you end up in positions 1-3) or far too optimistic.

When they're wrong, I don't know how that would help google, so I don't think there's an ulterior motive.

Through my experience the ad positions can be wildly inaccurate at times, so tread carefully when setting up your campaign. The estimated ad rank positions is definately something google could improve upon.

Be careful on your keywords or you can get far to many clicks and not generate any leads from them. I spend now around £50 per week but Google always asking to increase my budget. I guess the more you spend the more sales you get but not always.
