I'm looking for new ways to get more people signing up to my newsletter (its all about health and fitness). Do you have any ideas how I can do this? How have you managed to do this in the past? I'm looking into making a website to use that as a platform. Maybe I can offer a free download on the website, where you are asked to sign up to the newsletter to get similar information. Any ideas would really be appreciated!

Hi!
Have you thought about enter and exit strategies? where a pop up comes up as visitors enter or leave - that encourage to sign up. Also email marketing and automation on tools such as Mailchimp to send across messages to your potential leads. It is a good way to remind visitors of your brand and have a link or download to the newsletter. I know this cant be done unless you have their email but it is something to consider as another process. Maybe offer some value to attract customers like a discount, giveaway or extra content as people become intrigued by this! The only other methods is really just making sure the website encourages it and that it is easy to find and seek customers to sign up. Good luck!

    Hi

Having a white paper on the website that’s free to download but you need to register is a good way.

An offer to register for future offers or discount codes could work.

Do remember though if you are registering details to stay within GDPR guidelines - ie they must have opt out option on messages, right to be forgotten- completely removed, more importantly that the data held is updated and they give regular consent to remaining registered with you.

Should work out ok as long as your newsletters are of high enough quality that they want to keep getting them.

Imo it’s a lot harder now to build an active newsletter database than it was in the past, you need to keep on top of properly managing your data - good luck

Why do you want people to sign up for a newsletter?

What does your newsletter give them that isn’t already available on thousands of other sites?

I think fisicx nails this SesO. There are many tried and tested ways to get people signing up for your newsletter from landing pages with cheap FB ads, to popups, to giveaways, to downloads... but why have a newsletter?

I went down this route for years with no plan. I got thousands of subscribers to my weekly newsletter with a great open rate. However, it was just a drain on my time, a big monthly cost for email marketing and a bit of an ego trip until I figured out how to use it to grow my business.

Are you clear on how you'll monetise your newsletter? Will you be using it to recruit clients, sell services, products, etc.? If not, it may just be better to put your energy elsewhere until you have a plan.

And if you've got a plan - great!

If you have traffic to your site already then downloads, ebooks, mini-courses, white papers, etc from pop-ups are what I've found to be most effective. If you don't have organic traffic, then you will need to pay for a flow of it to a landing page - which is why you need to know how you'll monetise your email.

It may sound simple to find a way forward and members have already suggested some good options but be careful what you wish for. If you build a sizeable number then servicing them can be time consuming and you will pay a price for delivery of your newsletter.

Have you looked at other options apart from the newsletter? Maybe there are other and better ways to capture your audience and their attention. You should look at the age, gender, and other qualities of your audience and adapt your interactions accordingly. Sometimes, the strategies that we think should be the best are not always the best. I say this because I never subscribe to any newsletters and if I'm subscribed automatically I unsubscribe immediately, I feel like it's just spamming my email.
