Fake Facebook Reviews

Hi All,

There are 2 reviews/rating on our facebook page from 2 people who probably don't even exist they are both for 1 or 2 stars and it just looks bad.

I reported them as spam to facebook as that seemed like the only option, do you know of anything else i can do to try and have these removed?

I barely update the facebook page which in itself doesn't look great, but i really dont like having these nonsense ratings on there.

Well I tracked a couple of sales from it recently when somebody shared it on a local youth football club page. Considering the lack of effort i have put in i think it is worth it even just for the odd sale.

I just find it irritating to see a rating of 1.5 out 5 from 2 people who are clearly not real or have no clue what they are doing.

Do you even need a facebook page? If you got rid of it would it make any difference at all to your business?

For most businesses the fb page will not bring in any direct sales. But can sometimes be useful for winning a sale when prospects are doing due diligence. Especially for a big purchses/long term commitments. Web design/graphic design/photographers etc will need a fb page so buiyer can see what they've been up to and whether they have a strong customer base, browse their porffolio of work etc.

This thread might be useful, it was a really interesting discussion on the topic.

Don't discount the value of Facebook, they're making a lot of strides to make it more important for local businesses. They are testing rolling out a Yell/Yelp/Yellow Pages competitor - http://www.fastcompany.com/3054696/...l&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Helping people shop and helping people find local businesses are both key activities they'd like to insert Facebook into so in the long run I think it's sensible to expect more direct sales from Facebook than perhaps happened in the past.

The best way to deal with the fake reviews is to respond them as a business owner. Explain why the review is wrong/fake. It creates more trust and shows that you care for your business.

Completely agree. I always advise clients to tackle them unless they are on a site where the messages will eventually be pushed down and can therefore be ignored.

There are always bad reviews, just get some good ones to balance things out.
