I am getting booked in for a tattoo in a few months and have decided on a business/entrepreneur themed sleeve.

I'm sure this forum has never had any threads like this before but i thought i would give it a go ;)

After googling i found that there is nothing like this that has ever been done before which makes it even more exciting.

Current ideas are having the arm like a timeline of a businessman's life where the bottom of the arm will be starting off which for me was a few dodgy dealings here and there so im gonna get a portrait of del boy then maybe an Alan Sugar portrait at the top. He has a connection to my both loves in life which is business and Tottenham.

Other ideas
Snakes and ladders
Skyscrapers

This may well turn out that this thread is not welcomed on the forum but hopefully not :)

P.S I know tattoos are not always welcomed in the business world but i love them so i cant be talked out of it :D

Dan,

This sounds like a plan! Excited for you (as a tattoo fan myself!).

How about your 'favorite' entrepreneur's quote? OR, what about: Mark Twain's "not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog." - this quote applies to SMEs/SMBs too : )

Cheers and update us with how the tat sessions go!

I have a few quotes I like but more than likely I will only use one as I don't want too much to be made up of quotes. I really like your example though and i may well use it :)

Probably going to end up in timeout, but are you really saying you want a picture of Lord Sugar on your arm - for ever!!? i would be worried that people seeing it would think i had some special man love for him!! :)

Seriously though, its your tattoo and something you have to live for a love time. Go fo whatever floats your boat. And post pictures!

And therein the problem lies :) people can't see what a tattoo is unless they are very intimately physically close to you. They look like a colourful mass from anything greater than two feet.

I have been drawing inked girl portraits of late and the tattoo art is lovely as of course are the girlies but the result is the same regard knowing what detail is there, anyone but a close pal wont! Flower scenes though are easier to make out from a distance I guess.

So do what appeals to you and don't worry too much about entertaining the masses. That said I think Alan sugar is a BAD idea. What if his public image takes a down turn, you're stuck with that ugly mug. Also tatts are fairly common now, so you won't stand out for simply having them. It's not like years gone by.

I was having a look to see if I could find any more now disgraced famous people tattooed on their fans, not came across any yet. Can anyone find any more ?

OP, I try not to judge people on appearances but its true that first impressions count in business. I would really struggle to take someone seriously if they turned up for a meeting and they'd an Alan Sugar and Delboy tattoo on their arm... to me it just wouldn't give the right impression at all. I would think they were either an idiot, or a wannabe business man.

I realise you could cover it up with a shirt sleeve for business meetings... but when anyone else sees it they would probably also get that same impression. I wouldn't want to go on a business conference somewhere sunny and be the only guy not using the swimming pool because I had a stupid tattoo.

I too would be inclined to agree, not sure who would be impressed by the tattoos you are proposing for yourself. Consider this, let's suppose you become mega mega rich and successful, so much so that Alan sugar wishes he was as successful as you ... Do you still want his face on your arm??

My sleeve will only be black/grey but i agree that tattoos can all look pretty similar from a distance but i dont mind. I have a great artist that is going to do it all so i am pretty excited.
Maybe Alan Sugar is a bad idea im not sure but he just shows the top end of entrepreneurship and what is represents. I mean if you get any famous person tattooed on you, you will always run the risk some big news story can come out but its not the end of the world. Rather makes it more amusing. Tattoo is not a completely serious subject and should just be taken as fun and lighthearted.

Dodgy dealings, who other than the ultimate entrepreneur, the business man I enspire to be ;)

I will be getting a del boy :)

I didn't really want to get into the whole whether tattoos are acceptable or not. They are a lot more common and acceptable these days and if someone judges me by a tattoo then to be honest i wouldn't want to work with them. I'm an entrepreneur so i run the show :D and dont have to worry about a boss being funny about my tattoos.Im already pretty heavily tattooed so already might cause offense to some businessman's eyes when taking a dip in a pool ;)

If I become as rich as this, im sure I could get it lasered off :D

Lets not get into the debate and just keep it to ideas please

We will be here all day and i guess its just down to preference on whether you like tattoos or not.

I appreciate the comments on Alan Sugar though and i may have to rethink it.

Have you asked the female in your life what she thinks? I know I find certain tattoos as off putting as I would a really bad bad smell. You know those DIY tattoos for starters, naked women, profanity etc etc. Does your woman want to be looking into sugars eyes or del boys when climbing aboard for some loving? It could be very off putting. I assume Miley bloke must find it hard to pull now!

I would err away from faces ... :)

haha that made me have a little chuckle. I currently have a half sleeve on my other arm, a big chest piece and neck tattoo so im pretty sure shes ok with my tats ;)
I definitely see where your coming from though because if it was the other way round i would be a bit freaked out. I think a lot of it comes to just how well done it is. I'm not popping into my local shop im traveling from Southampton to Cardiff to see one of the best UK artists.

Ha, imagine the missus had a sentimental tattoo of her grandma on her bosom!

Fantastic. idea. but dont bother with leaving the whole arm blank. Once you reach a certain level you might find it very difficult to progress because people will have a very poor view of guys with written tatoos.
It will immediately place you in a category of "people who should have thought about it first". At least the pictures of me in flares and paisley shirts have faded. Fashion is fashion and always changes.

As an owner of a tattoo removal clinic. i can state that businessmen getting rid of tattoos is a fantastic way to make money and the market is getting bigger by the day. One bit of advice...dont use red or yellow. Much harder to get off. Most people get them changed to look like an unfortunate birth mark rather than the cute blond that seemed like a good idea at the time.

Maybe im not functioning right today but i didn't understand what you meant when you said don't bother leaving the whole arm blank?

I love tattoos and always have, the current fashion of tattoos actually makes my appearance more acceptable. I wont let other people opinions stop me getting tattoos nor will i let it stop me making a success in the business world :)

Moneyman il pm you mate
