Sort of. It's better at producing marketing copy than it is product descriptions. It will often fill the copy with wondrous stories rather than a simple description of the product.

But the important information is hidden away in all the guff: how big is it and what’s it made of. The cost shouldn’t even be in there. The regeneration is better but the specifications are better displayed as a list (easier to scan).

But you don’t want a table of tables. These are product descriptions for use on an e-commerce site.

What you want is a short description of the product highlighting the features followed by the specifications.

Then repeat for all 10,000 products.

If you have to copy and paste each product into the chat it will take forever.

I totally get the point and potential value of AI but not sure ChatGPT is the solution to writing thousands of product descriptions.

My problem is not the quantity of products - less than 50, but that they are all much of a muchness. I'm hoping I can generate half a dozen bits of blurb that can be applied to more than one of them.

Maybe rethink how you sell the products. Instead of 50 different products have variants. This often increases the number of sales.

I did a site for someone where they had about 400 products. Once properly categorised and displayed as variants the site became far more sticky and they started selling a lot more. Can't remember the exact figure but they more than doubled turnover.

I think it depends on how it’s used. If you wanted to write a history book, then for stuff like that, it’s fine. Recipes etc … even wrote business planning templates and marketing plan templates. Takes the load off creating general, mundane, time wasting content writing stuff for social media, which in hindsight isn’t ‘important’ stuff - employees can then format it and check the text, add / edit the text for human element - bobs ya uncle, you saved 29477438922947 hours.
