Hello everyone!

I am wondering if you click the link in others' signatures. If you do, when?

somtimes, depends on whether or not I'd be interested in using their products, or whether a stratigic partnership would be a good idea.

I click on links to find out exactly what a person does and what their business is about ... especially if they have asked for information etc as I want to ensure if I can answer it, I know what it relates to!

Whenever someone puts up an interesting post, I check their website to see what they're all about. So yep, I do.

Yes, I click....not all of them though..maybe say around 60-70% of the posts I read.

Cheers,

:)

I do click them, but maybe because i am a programmer, I am actually looking at the layout, programming etc and not actually what it is selling

...Whilst cursing under your breath at the side admins for making you jump through pedantic hoops! (Or is that just me? :))

:) Yeah, but then I paid for membership last week so now I'll be appreciating the perks that come with it (or at least when I get round to including my own signature).

Surely that depends more on the quality/relevance of the individual website than anything else? In other words, the fact that they've clicked a link from here to get there might be relevent but behaviour once you get to a site isn't releated to the link-clicking from here......

....is it?

I click on links, I love being nosy! As you say Simon, your behaviour once you have clicked on a link is entirely due to the content of a site. The design, ease-of-use and copy are all crucial.

However, I would say if a forum user 'knows' the person whose link they have clicked on due to reading a number of their posts, they will be more likely to stay longer out of interest, regardless of the quality of the site.

Yes, often if they say something about their business I click the link to understand what they are referring to and also I click links if someone has an interesting signature or url and I'm just being nosey.

I click people's links if they're promoting something I'm looking for at the time, or if the person has posted something interesting and I want to have a bit of a nose to find out more about them!

Yes I also click on links sometimes, but more important than individuals clicking on links, isn't it good from a search engine point of view to have a link in your signature?

I click on links all the time. I'm just nosey.

The backlink is a strong incentive too and I've just spent the last half an hour trying to get PayPal to play ball so I can subscribe and get it displayed as a url (anyone else has this problem?).

3 to 5 days and I'll be in the land of the living again!

It's not just me that finds that annoying then Ian?

I don't post half as much as I should though, mainly because I don't come onto the forum as much as I should really....too busy working and stuff!

I click on links of people in similar business or if someone has answered one of my questions or if I am interested in their business especially if they have a service I could possibly use.

Absolutely if I think we could have a potential business relationship or I like what the poster says or I think their product will be of interest to me. The forum is about networking and building a better business after all.:)

Seasoned internet marketers would tell you its one of the most effective marketing secret and yet the most unused one. Many people do click on signature links. You can prove it by using some ad tracking tools out there. I have one most effective one I am using, please feel free to get in touch to discuss more on the subject.

I think it puts people`s posts in perspective when you find out what they do.

Background information is always useful!

I do wonder why some people in a business forum don`t bother to put a signature link though.

Yes of course, its a great way of finding out more about the people and firms who's comments have caught your attention and can lead to establishing contact with the firms and new business.
