Director's and Digital ID

Looks like the system is a shambles - I filed a confirmation statement for an LLP yesterday and included the two Partners IDs as required.

They took my £34 and all seem to be fine, but then this morning I get an email saying it has been rejected because :
  • All active directors are required to verify their identities. You must complete verification for all directors that are as yet unverified and obtain personal codes before you can file your next confirmation statement. You will be required to enter these personal codes as part of the CS01 application.
I did include these details, so this makes no sense. So I've just spent 30 minutes on hold and on the phone to HMRC where they told me they've been having lots of technical issues and I should try to file again next week. Apparently, the £34 fee for the rejected submission will be refunded and I'll have to pay it again when I re-file

The deadline for our filing is next Friday.

I re-filed again today and now it has been accepted ; there seemed to have been a few changes to the submission page.

It's very fiddly - if you miss a check box it seems to randomly un-check other ones so it takes several goes.

And yet you still trust it ?

Doesn’t matter how I feel about the relentless surveillance, doesn’t matter how much you rail against the system. If you want to be a director you need to abide by the law.

As an aside, every time you walk into a shop, down the street, drive your car your face is being scanned. You watch TV they are watching you. Turn off your phone and the microphone can still listen. It’s everywhere. You might not like it but there is no escape. And if you use any sort of social media it’s much much worse.
So are you fighting back ? are you part of the 52% that are not willing to accept this level of control ?

Nope. I’m quite happy thanks.

What 52%?

But when it is will you expect somebody else to bail you out ?
Not sure I understand the question. Bail out from what?

If you want to be a director you need to confirm your identity. Can’t see an issue with this.

Name some...
Judges
Anyone who works for MI*
Anyone who knows that the more info others have on you the easier it is for them to defraud or steal off you, I'll leave you to think about any others maybe you could add to the list but I doubt it.

What about dodgy companies defrauding customers? I suspect they would like to keep their details hidden as well.

Do you really think it will change for them ? they'll find some loop hole or other method to get around it they always do because our "glorious leaders" are way too stupid to stop them !!!

Maybe so. But it's a start. It means if you want to be the director of a company you have to prove your identity. And that's a good thing.

No it really isn't, but by the time you find that out it will be too late, and you can then regret it for the rest of your life

Regret what?

They already know who I am along with my mugshot. They are just making sure the Director’s details match.

If you don’t like the rules don’t be a director.
