The company i work for is being taken over and the new employer wants us to do a lying week, can he ask for this even though we have always been paid weekly and never had to do lying week, i dont particularly want to have to do a lying week after 25 years of service.

As above, they would need you to agree. If you are the only one kicking up a fuss though it may look bad on you from your new employers.

They can't do that as they would inherit the previous T&Cs. For them to amend your contract, you would need to agree.

You are entitled to keep the same terms, however there may be a way round this which would work for both yourself and your new employer.

We changed our wage payment cycle from weekly to monthly, both with 1 week in hand (lying week).

This was done to simplify procedures, facilitate a bonus system and reduce payroll and banking costs.

To facilitate the extended pay cycle we offered our staff a loan to cover the shortfall in their income, repayable from their final wages when they left the company, or repayable over a number of months. around 30% of our staff took up the offer of a loan and of these half paid it back over a number of months.
