Thinking about buying three business iphone 16 contracts, but it turns out to be a rip-off after working out how much they charge for monthly data. Who do you normally go with? Many thanks.

Why do you need an iPhone
I smash a phone every month so a good Samsung is a good deal 👍

I dont like wasting money so Giff Gaff sym card in a normal phone is a good deal for 10 quid a month. This makes it affordable for drivers to have a company phone With a reacouring card payment each month it's no different than having a contract.
I have mega data and unlimited everything on mjne for 20 quid a month
Now would someone explain to me why you would spend 30 - 40-50-60 pounds on a business contract because I don't get it and I'm confused as hell why people do it
    I must be missing something

    Why?
What do they do that a cheaper phone doesnt? Those 3 phones are profit you could be taking out of the business to put towards a house, mortgage, holiday, anything other than something that will be gone in 2-3 years.

    Genuine question btw.
My Mrs always gets the latest samsung. I dont know how much it costs, but I am going with £500-1000 added on to her contract (3 year contract!).

I buy a cheap phone (£100-150)- usually a motorola. my only requirement is that it has gorilla glass so it can take a drop or 2. It lasts maybe 18 months. By the time I get my upgrade, my new cheap phone is better than her 18 month old samsung mortgage payment phone.

Also, if I break it, I am not overly bothered.

I always used to get the latest Samsung but the last time I renewed, I went for one of their cheaper models. It struggled to handle multiple apps being open at any one time - PDF viewer, emails, browser, whatsapp, etc. It was infuriating and ended up buying seperately the latest Samsung.

Unless you have a need for the latest feature, why?

I have been buying Xioami & RealMe for the past few years and get loads of features for a very reasonable (25% or less of big products) price.

I think Martin Lewis said 14 million people are paying way too much for their phone/airtime because they do not take action - complacency and lack of knowledge are great bed partners!

He also basically told millions of people to cancel PPI policies right before the last major recession.

I love my iphone and wouldn't have anything else, not the cheapest but they are the best and it's all tax deductible - comes down to personal preference

I’m the same, I love my iPhone and am aware I’m paying more than an equivalent phone from Samsung or LG, but I’m happy to do so.

Most people have something they are happy to pay more for than even though things exist that will do the same job for cheaper.

My friend enjoys driving a new car so will pick one up every 3 years whereas he could probably save thousands buying cheaper second hand cars.

My Brother in Law has an incredible TV and home cinema setup even though TV’s exist for few hundred quid that “do the same job” but him and his wife love their films and they enjoy it and see value in paying more for it.

You only live once, if you really want something that is more expensive than the alternative, then get it (if you can afford it of course).

Although on the iPhone front, I tend to pick up an older model - I last upgraded in September last year and went for the iPhone 13 as it was the latest model I could comfortably afford.

I shook my head at the stupidity of this statement. Then remembered how much my wife paid for a handbag, compared with my rucksack that carries far more and is much more comfortable 😁

    Come to think of it
I would feel a lot more comfortable with an iPhone than a handbag 🤣

This is the essence of marketing (in its widest sense)

Nearly everyone- unless they are terminally tight or recklessly extravagant- has their own variations of stuff they are happy to pay extra for and stuff where the cheapest will suffice (Poundland goods and premium goods)

The role of marketing premium brands into dig out your premium audience and forget about the rest

Personally, having dabbled in Apple as a successor to Blackberry, I never got it at all, reverted to Samsung and haven't noticed any different

Apple shares are unaffected by my decision
