Business ideas from home.

Im looking for some ideas on businesses that can be run from home, travel is fine but generally looking for low cost start ups that are more service than product

Have thought of cleaning and ironing so far, there must be more

What's your field of expertise? From your signature I'm guessing clothing so what about personal styling / shopping where you receive the goods for them (eg from asos or whatever brands you deal with) and arrange for the returns to happen. Pricing on a consultation fee and a cost plus basis. Aim at professionals in your town, singles etc. Arrange for home visit hair stylist / manicurist as well and referal bonus.

You could make clothes at home and sell them off? but my advice is to do something that you enjoy.

I've ran all my businesses from home but they were all done through my computer but since you are into your clothing try making your own with your own style and then sell them off or offer to personalise different clothing such as jeans and tops etc

If you are thinking of online marketing, then I suggest that you do a search on Chris Farrell.

I have spent the past 6 months learing from all his videos and it has given me the confidence and the support to work from home.

He has lots of free videos / reports to watch or read and will give you a better idea what internet marketing is all about.

Hi gemd89

I want to help you, but I am not totally clear on things...

Are you looking for a business from home where you use
your expertise on a one-to-one basis with customers, or
are you looking to develop a business where you satisfy
the needs of people yet create a passive income?

The last thing I would suggest you do is find the equivalent
of a job where you trade your time for dollars, sorry GBPs.
The better option is to create one thing and sell it 1000 times.

  • In your field of expertise, what is the market looking for?
  • What pains do people experience in the market?
  • Do they have the money to pay for their pains to be cured?
  • Can you do it?

These are four very basic questions, but they are the basis
of a success strategy.

Whatever you do....

Do not make something and then try to sell it.

I wish you great success... I hope this helps you.
Come back if I can help further.

Cheers

Geoff

I'm trying to build up a portfolio and customers base. My target market is small businesses that are just starting up and I offer simple, professional designs for 'pocket money'

Just looked at your site mate and your designs look pretty good to me. Dont sell yourself short though, there are a lot of people doing stuff of much lower quality than you for a lot more money.

Well I suggest the first thing you do to earn a bob or two is to empty your cupboards, wardrobes, garden shed, garage & attic of anything and everything you've outgrown, never used, got bored with or simply don't want.
List them for sale on our new auction site and see how you get on. It could become a hard habit to break; addictive, compelling and useful :)

How about creating travel plans for tourists in your area?
For example go to this cave on 12:00 because then there won't be any lines etc.
I hope you understood me :)

People run thousands of types of businesses from home. You could do consultancy, art, antiques and collectables, small crafts such as card making and jewellery, teaching, graphic design, IT, calligraphy, engraving, garden design, journalism, event management. tele sales, home party selling, repairing and many more. Naturally you need to find something that there is a demand for with very little competition and that you have some experience or qualifications in.

Well then how about creating a site which has maps (official and those which you get in some museums etc.) and you would have to say where are you and where are you going. And then there would show some places, which he/she could go to and saying what's in that location etc. or what's new.
Dont think my friend is interested, she likes making little website! But other than that dont know what she can do

How about book designing? You can do that in home and sell them to someone, who makes to books for studying. I am always trying to find a book with a cool design.

I would recommend a book called "Business in a backpack - Adam Costa and Darcie Connell" You can get it on Amazon. :)

why is it good then?

It explains step by step how to set up virtual products or affiliate sites. Basically they say make individual streams of incomes that give you say £50 a month each. Obviously you need to put work into it but these guys were making £890 a month after a year and that was pretty much automated. They then went off to Asia and carried on running things from their backpacks as they had a fun time.
