best web hosting company...?

hi there,
I have about 8 websites of my business. Till now, I was hosting on ixwebhosting but they had some problem on their server last month and it stayed down almost a week. I could not even receive my mails for a week. I have decided to move my websites from them.
Can someone please suggest me the best webhosting (and off course low cost as well).
It must have dedicated IP address for my each website, unlimited space, e-mails space etc...
Any suggestions welcome...
 
A week long outage is not good, sorry to hear that.

Why do you need a dedicated IP per website? And is unlimited space actually essential? How much space are you currently using?

How are you hosting 8 websites currently (Reseller package, individual shared hosting packages, one shared hosting package using addon domains etc)?

Downtime of a week is not good and I can see why you would want to move.

On a similar vein to Ezpz, do each one of your websites have an SSL? A week? Are you sure? Have you contact their support team? It is ridiculous if your site down for a week, how can you run your business?

Thanks for all replies. The reason I am looking for dedicated IP address plan is as they are good for SEO. Plus, I will need SSL certificate in very near future on 3 websites.

I need unlimisted e-mail space as all prefer to keep all e-mails over the server. I should not have any cap on it.

I design my websites myself. Very simple website, nothing complicated. Currently I have shared hosting but with dedicated IP address (it allows me to have upto 15 dedicated IP addresses).

Dedicated IP for each site isn't needed for SEO purposes, it doesn't give any benefits. You can be given an IP for each account that use SSL certificates though. Due to the shortage, any host giving an IP for SEO purposes is a red flag, eventually they'll have to audit and claim those back or get proper justification (SEO purposes is not proper justification).

You should not worry about running out of space on your emails even with a 5 - 10 GB disk space package. With that, you can store tens of thousands of emails without a problem (of course depending on if you send lots of attachments etc).

Ezpz's prices look quite competitive especially with the coupon code. We do offer shared and dedicated hosting services but won't be able to match Ezpz's prices if I am honest.

I would however, recommend doing some more reading before you make the move.

IPs have no influence on SEO at all. I would recommend narrowing down exactly how much you need storage wise. (It would only help you reduce costs). I do not know anyone who actually needs unlimited mail boxes.

Another option could be a VPS as it would give you a dedicated IP, which would only be for all your websites (useful, if you still feel it benefits you). A VPS would give you much more control and much more support (normally). A managed VPS that would provide you ample space and future proofing for all your websites would cost you around £30 per month from us. (80GB storage, 25GB mailbox (Hosted Exchange), 1 vCPU, 2GB ram with windows 2012 or CentOS included)

All just comes down to what you find more comfortable to use.

As other have already mentioned you do not need to Dedicated IPs only for SEO. However, if you are going to use SSL on each oh the sites then you can have one.

Again reflecting on what others said, unlimited space is not the ideal choice especially if you need good performance. If you could let us know your existing space usage then based on that you could get suggestions. How much would you be spending on the server?

I got a Dedicated IP as the IP that I had on a shared server kept getting black listed - that meant I couldnt send emails to hotmail, gmail and had to continually the hosting Co to get the spam ban unblocked

Who is the hosting provider? If they don't have the proper monitoring in place nor the ability to track down spammers on the network then this will happen often. Any reputable provider should be able to keep IP blacklisting minimal though and when they are blacklisted, have them promptly delisted.

It would be good if you can manage to consider SSD Cloud VPS Server. This can really help you with good amount of space, separate Dedicated IP address for each site along with reliable, scalable, secured and good performance platform.

I'm a Bluehost fan. No major issues so far, and their customer service is fast and helpful.

I have 16 different hosting accounts (don't ask!) but my favourite one is betterwebspaceDOTcom. They are based in the UK and Keiron the owner has been nothing but extremely helpful for the eight years I have been with him.
Of course, I have others with hostgator, 123 reg, etc but whilst betterwebspace are not the cheapest (and nowhere near the most expensive) they always answer my queries within the hour, even after 9 o'clock!
Couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Another Vidahost fan here been with them years and they have been great.

Best thing to do is give them a call to discuss your requirements, if not all packages are available to view on their website I believe.

That is a loaded question. All shared hosting is pretty much insufficient for most websites after a certain level. When you want unlimited you are looking for shared hosting and almost every hosting out there is the same, first year all is great, second they mysteriously move you to a new box and performance decreases. If you want max performance, look into a dedicated server or into something like Linode, but in any case you need much more technical knowledge to manage.

If you still want to go with low level shared (for "unlimited"), then try hostgator, 1and1 or bluehost. All have fans and are sort of ok.

Just remember you pay what you get, the likes of 1and1 may be cheap, but you'll receive terrible service and slow, poorly maintained servers. I haven't tried all the hosts mentioned here, but can recommend Clook Internet for their excellent service and decent servers.

If you can do basic sys.admin, you can't go wrong with AWS or Azure - both are probably the best hosting platforms out there for the developer. I used AWS for my personal projects and it's just a really good platform. EC2 (servers) aside, you've got a bunch of other services like SES (email) and Route53 (DNS) that just makes things easy.

I think the days of the smaller web host/VPS are numbered in this respect and we'll see platforms - particularly from the big vendors e.g. Microsoft, Google, IBM etc - take over.

Web hosting is a double edge sword! Big company's like 1&1 can offer great price and decent up time but if anything goes wrong.. THEY WONT HAVE A CLUE! or worst still.. they will talk like the do have a clue and give u a run around

Smaller companies suffer for being understaffed! So the staff they have maybe good but getting a response is a pain!

I have been building and hosting websites for 15 years now, i have used lots of companies from all round the world for everything from reseller / shared hosting too dedicated servers

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!
Ezpz overall are good! could do with better monitoring but i think even that has improved
Eleven2 is another one worth a look at, but i think might be outgoing itself
Vida great service but not cheap I think tsohost are the same people? great service too
Stablehost are fantastic too, great support and uptime

Yes, if you have dedicated/static IP, it will help in SEO, but the most important thing is the quality of your content.

Really depends on what your hosting...

Some are very good for something like a single site with a few pages that doesn't receive huge amounts of traffic.

Some are better for providing infrastructure for a larger sites (need databases, larger amounts of traffic, 100% up time ect.)

So really its a case of do you simply want to just get a site on the web and not really care about the underlying infrastructure, or do need something that is bespoke and tailor made for your own needs?

Thank you for your kind comments. In recent months we have changed our monitoring systems to be aware of any issues before they arise. We have also added additional monitors for blacklist monitoring and more to ensure we're on top of any issues.

Really glad to hear it, I have had an account with you guys for a few years, as i said certainly one of the better providers over all. Hopefully the improved monitoring will iron the only issues i have ever had

The problem with DreamHost is that they're not UK based.
For a UK based business it really makes sense to go for a UK host. You'll get better latency, and any scheduled servicing will likely be done at a better time; the middle of the night in the US is the morning in the UK...

There's also no such things as "Unlimited" hosting, so that's something to look out for. Anybody claiming to provide unlimited resources isn't being honest, and normally you'll find this aggressively limited in the terms and conditions, such as through inodes.

As offthepegdesign mentioned, the largest players generally have good infrastructure and pricing, but lack in service, whilst the smaller hosts can offer good service but may not be as reliable. We're biased, but I think a good medium sized host will offer excellent personal service consistently, and also a reliable infrastructure.

And tire1 you'll get stronger SEO benefits if the IP addresses of your sites are completely different. If you're trying to give one site of yours link love to another, if the IP addresses are completely unrelated that's best. The easiest way to achieve that is to host the sites with different web hosts in different data centres. That'll also be cheaper than purchasing dedicated IP addresses (if you wanted those solely for SEO purposes).

I've used 3 hosts:

eUK - good for 3 years, then had 1 month of mysql crashing over and over and over. Took them 6 weeks before they admitted the problem was on their end. My sites went from ranking very well to some of them being de-indexed from google because when google tried to crawl it could not access my site. Would not reccomend but I still use them for a couple of sites. (for the eUK guy here, telford server about a year ago)

TSOHost - Absolutely no complaints, brilliant service, brilliant servers and brilliant support.

Media Temple - Very good but very expensive

I'd take a serious look a TSO - they have been nothing but brilliant for me.

How long have you been with Media Temple? Are you still with them?

They're now owned by GoDaddy so it would be interesting to see how the services has changed (if at all) since the acquisition.
