I have been sending and receiving messages fine for 2p a message which is v. cheap but just wondered what everyone else uses and if there are any better deals out there? :p

... while CBF do provide an excellent service, they don't offer 2p per text to UK networks. No one does - not for high quality SMS texting! They do however offer these rates for other countries.

If anyone wants to check out http://www.Txtlocal.com - please sign up with promo code UKBF and we will give you 40 free credits to play with. Call me any time on 0845 0093182 and I will show how SMS text can help your business and give you a guided tour of the system - it is designed to be VERY easy to use, you will be up and running in minutes for online SMS, email to SMS (send emails to [email protected] and they get converted to SMS) and a simple, free programmers API to integrate in/out SMS into your website or software.

We only use high quality direct routes through UK operators. Don't be fooled by lower cost services that either use offshore routing (if a customer moves between operators there is a good chance your message won't be delivered) or charge 1.5 credits per text (multiply any prices by 1.5!!).

Cheers.

Al.

2p is indeed very cheap. I have been using sipdiscount.com for text messaging and it works out at about 3.6p per text (although I do get a number of free texts per day). However, I would not say that they are 100% reliable...

If you use CBFSMS they normally put their URL at the end of the text, which is fine, but it may not be suitable for all businesses

If your using the VIP part of CBFSMS it seems that their pricing is 5p (see here) or 4p for over 1000, so not sure how you are getting the 2p price;)

I can do 5.7p each for the first 500, and 4.9p each in batches of 100 for the next 500+ (the prices get even more cheaper, the more that you buy)

So the first 1000 sent with me would cost you £53, with CBFSMS it would cost you £50 (based on the price in that link ^)

But with me (and Txtlocal.com) you can choose your display name (E.g Georgina) (who the text is from) and the SMS will be sent through UK operators (on the highest quality route)

(I won't be available until the new year however)

yes exactly that
Well, you would normally buy a keyword (related to your business)
I do one for £50 a year
Your customers would text "Your keyword" to 80809. You'd receive these texts, and can reply to them, with outbound SMS
My SMS prices are above^ they start at 5.7p for the first 500, then reduce down to 4.9p

My website won't be ready until January though... so if you need it before January, I'm sure Al from Txtlocal would be more than happy to help you

Sexymuffin,

What did you want to use your short number for? Did you want to generate revenue from it or just as a contact number? If the latter, I have dedicated long numbers that don't cost the sender (other than a single SMS at their standard network rate) to send a message to. The sender doesn't need to worry about keywords then and you can reply via your browser or Outlook. My message costs a bit higher than TxtLocal's & One Sixty's and I also use high quality routes.

could I not just use my own mobile for the same job? I'm after a short number, not to generate revenue just for contact
