... in my opinion.

As it's new year, a lot of us are thinking about the future and what we want to achieve with our businesses.

So, I thought I'd post a link to the best marketing audio I've ever heard.

It's an interview Jay Abraham gave back in the mid-1990s, but it still applies today and is an excellent grounding in how to think about business and marketing strategy.

Part 1 is here: http://tinyurl.com/yacyvpa

Part 2 is here: http://tinyurl.com/yd5mcdo

A few notes:

(1) The files are rm format, they play in realplayer.

(2) The interviewer is Tony Robbins. If you can't stand him, don't listen to it. If you do listen to it, don't post and whine about him.

(3) Jay talks very quickly. Get over it. The content is what's important.

(4) Yes, it's "very American", whatever that means. Jay's American, Tony's American. Whay do you expect? For it to be "very Welsh"?

(5) In total, it lasts 2 hours. If you're not willing to spend 2 hours listening to something, that's fine. Don't listen to it.

(6) If you think Jay's claims are "all hype", don't just assume, try a few of his ideas and prove it for yourself. You'll probably be pleasantly surprised.

Aside from that, feel free to comment - e.g. what you thought was most helpful, questions about how to implement certain things etc.

Cheers,

Steve

Makes me wonder how much they've paid Jay to take part in this interview...

So far so good. It's a shame it took almost 8 minutes to actually get to some usable and meaningful information after Tony going on about how great Jay is. It's things like that which bore people and make them close it down before it gets to the good stuff.

Funny, I was searching Jay's name and came to this site and thread. Had to share my own testimonial.

-I'm a big fan of his work. He's a very powerful *thinker* about business, where as many authors/gurus just focus on techinque, or a platform or medium to get your message across. Like Seth Godin with permission marketing, or emyth, or books about online marketing.

I haven't personally gone to any of his seminars, but I've listened to them on tape. He did many seminars in the 90's in the US, UK, and Australia at $5,000 a person. And other advanced seminars at $10-20,000. He over delivers by such a huge margin in terms of value, its amazing. He has so many different concepts, probably 50-60, that could improve a businesses bottom line. The Tony Robbins interview is like a 2 hour condensed version of one of his seminars.

-About the 8 minutes to get to useable information, I agree!!! There's *waaaaaayyyyy* too much information on the internet to sift through, and its hard to figure out, whats good vs what isn't. If you hear a bunch of free/junk, low quality interviews that take a long time to get to good information, then the jay/tony robbins interview comes along, its easy to dismiss.

I got introduced to his stuff back in 2002. But it took awhile to *see* the value he provides. Theres so much information clutter on the web, value, non value can blur.

-A big problem with the internet is that it makes concepts very generalized and watered down. Like, "joint venture", "leverage", "optimization", all these buzz words that you hear a million times, but nobody really makes any money from it, or they can't sustain it. With Jays stuff, you've got to think about the power a specific concept has. Like, "tunnel vision vs funnel vision" (on the tony robbins interview). Businesses all market the same way, plus/minus 10-20% within each other. If you just recognized that and acted on it, your business would improve.

-Another point if you're new to jays material. He does the stuff he talks about (like back end). Does a seminar, then sells the tapes. Or sells his book, Mr X. He tests his own ads and prices.

Steve

Blimey talk about a control freak.

Post something on a public forum then don't want to hear views that don't agree with his own ideas.

Carrying anal retention a bit far.IMHO:D
