I don't think you fully understand the business model for 'free' platforms like forums and social media platforms. When you use something for free it means you are the product, free members on this forum are the product same as people using Facebook for free are Meta's product.
It is not the same, in your scenario the people attending the webinar are the prospect and you want to sell your product to them.

..and looking at your account, you are a free member. This forum has always generated revenue by selling 'access' to it's free members through advertising. How else do you think the servers get paid?
Paid members don't see any ads, so they are not the 'product' - so nothing changes.

Four weeks, give or take. I guess most people don't look at the forum announcements bit unless something prompts them to. I'd seen it, and Ozzy's later "what do I do now" post, but other than the minor change of logo nothing's really changed from the user's perspective so there's not much to react to.
