So we are watching some dumb TV and there are the normal adverts for stuff we don’t want and can happily ignore. But we now see a box in the corner that suggests we can click on a button (by some magical means) and buy whatever is on offer from Amazon.

Is there no escape? Probably AI is involved somewhere.

If Amazon could deliver a chilled pint from the pub while I’m slumped on the sofa I might be interested.

they're swallow more and more of retail until there's nothing left. I swear one day the off license will run out of business because amazon drones will deliver conveniences to your door through drones.

The only way I'm able to survive as an indie ecom store owner is through high specialised stores with my expertise on the subject. the sales blurb is written by someone whose in the space and is an experienced user of the product.

I think that was predicted to happen a decade ago...

The medium has changed, the pattern is the same.

supermarkets 'steal' business from independents - specialist independents come along.

Out of town shopping kills High Streets, High streets fill up with a a different kind of retail.

The internet kills shops; shops move towards experiential retail.

It's worth noting that Amazon have had several failures along the way - they learn their lesson & move on. But provide us with proof that they will never be 'everything'.
