We are in the process of moving to a new warehouse + office its approximatly 5000square ft plus 700 square foot of offices. I need a very approximate guide for a monitored alarm system as up until now we have never had to have one installed. I know its a little like how long is a piece of string but I am trying to make up some costings for our move and I have no idea currently if this will be £500 - £1000 or more?

The items we sell are rated as low risk for theft if that helps!

I paid a similar amount about 4 years ago, for installation, which also incures a quaterly monitoring fee.

I have upgraded since then, Insurance stipulation and the current system was £2,000 which is the latest Redcare.

I would suggest getting the known..... ADT etc.. to give some quotes, and haggle cause they will be keen for your business

Jazzy dan, where are you located? For starters Office accommodation generally does not require AFD (automatic fire detection) basically relying on occupants to raise the alarm. Obviously if you have what is called an "inner room scenario" then there may(?) be an argument but a descent Fire Engineer can sort this! As for the warehouse depending on process risk, again a "monitored system" is quite extravagant! Normally a type "M" system would suit, which are relativley cheap!

This advice is based purely on your assumption of "low risk".

Who said monitored system...fire services today are staying clear if possible as one of the government targets is driving down unwanted fire signals....something that a monitored system increases!

Get yourself an expert who is not in the market for selling you what you may not really need.

But back to your original question ....over £1K

It depends on the type and number of detectors (door sensors, PIR etc..), the type of control panel (entry code, swipe card, multiple access codes etc.). Basic systems, 1 door sensor and 1-2 PIR's can be pretty cost effective and i believe the actual redcare subscription has come down a fair bit over the last 12-24 months.

If your insurance company require you to have one, ask them what rating it needs to be.

ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) have much stricter rules now so make sure you use a NACOSS or SSAIB approved installer, as they will be fully up to date with the rules and regs.

These are for basic commercial residences, whilst offer protection do not satisfy insurance or guidelines for security systems on business premises. Where are you locatedI.ll get a local installer to give you a quote from our security forum if you want. You need minimum Grade 2 type alarm, if you need it monitored you can put a speech dialler on that will contact you or other keyholders, you then contact the police themselves.

Barry, he was asking for a security system in the thread mate, not a fire system, good try though.
