Hi, I’ve recently been told that my cholesterol is high and I’m looking for some practical advice from others who have dealt with this. What changes to diet or lifestyle have you found helpful? Also, are there any treatments or medications commonly used to help control high cholesterol that I should discuss with my GP?

This is a question better suited for a health forum, although here is some guidance from the NHS for you;

Do more exercise!

Cut down on processed food (eat fresh).

Stop smoking and reduce alcohol intake (to almost nothing).

It's all in that link @Ozzy posted.

No. It's all about exercise and diet. There is no magic pill.

True. But they don’t work in isolation. You still need the exercise and diet change. And statins do have side effects. And it can take a number of different types before you find the one that’s right for you.
