Hi there,

I wonder if I could get some advice on a couple of things below please:

I started a company as a sole trader around 3 years ago, I have made minimal profit as have only been able to run the business as a sideline. Circumstances have changed and I am now able to dedicate a lot more time to it and would like to branch out into different areas.

My business is based on the internet and I have a really good domain / registered business name. I will be looking to move into lots of different markets for example ecommerce websites/ website design/consulting/affiliate marketing.

Can I run all these businesses under the one umbrella? I will be looking to register it as a limited company shortly would it be recommended to trademark the name of the business?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, Many thanks for the response.

Just to clarify I would register the main business name as a LTD company and then for example my own online store with a different domain would be "ONLINE STORE T/A Business Marketer" ? Or should I register two separate companies?

You just need one company. You just need to have something on your website like "Business Marketer is a trading name of Online Store Ltd"

Registering a trademark is a good idea for protecting your business name.
