101 Tips to Improve Your Web Presence

I read this yesterday and completely forgot what I was doing in the first place! There's some excellent tips in the list and some of the tools have helped me already.

I downloaded this as an ebook about a month ago
implemented quite a few of the tips and my traffic did increase quite dramaticaly and i got a couple of new users on my forum based football game as a result.

I think the main ones with regard to SEO for me were creating the blogs and bookmarks.

my main keyword i want to get found on is "Football pools" and i think im on google page 49-51 if you specify pages from the UK previuosly i was nowhere so its a start.

Good luck it can be be laong way to the top.

I'd be grateful if you could explain the tip - "PageRank is vanity, ranking is sanity". Aren't pagerank and your ranking inextricably linked?

I have implemented a lot of these recommendations and doing a comparison between my site and other sites that are beating me in the Google rankings my site seems far superior. However they are above me with far less backings and less serps optimisation. So what am I doing wrong?

Not really. Pagerank is only one of *many* factors that Google looks at when ranking web pages for a particular search term. Important factors include:
- link text on links pointing at that page
- page title
- page content
as well as many others. Having a page with high PageRank is all very nice, but unless the page is targeted at the search term in question, then that PR is largely irrelevant.

I'm already doing a few of them and they are getting me some hits.

The one I think I got badly wrong was

  1. If you sell products that are advertised on television by the manufacturer, add "As Seen on TV" to your site!
"As seen on Crimewatch", didn't quite have the same ring to it.

Not bad, but you have to understand that all depend on you website topic
But CONTENT and right choosen keywords are essential

I like your twist on that quote. Really like the song it's taken from. Great list - have started to work through these tips for my sites and have went from 168 links to over 500 for our main company site in just over 3 weeks. I'm using twitter but not quite worked out howit can benefit our web marketing.
