Most of it you should be able to do for free - that was kind of the ethos behind the article. All it takes is time and a bit of elbow grease.

Does any of this actually work ? I used to submit my web site to a long list of free sites and dmoz on a regular basis and have never had a single piece of work from it. I was never sure how often to resubmit. I did pay Google for a while and got my site at the top of the rankings for like 2 or 3 hours every morning but again it did nothing for me.

No is the siple answer. they can get moved from cat to cat and never get approved.

Only problem I see with that list, is that new comers to SEO will follow those 101 pointers and waste their time.

Some use the philosophy that "every little helps" but realistically every little hurts. What I mean by that is, you'd be focusing on points that have little impact. Focus on the few points that have massive impact and you'll achieve far more.

I'm not crapping on your list, it's comprehensive and most of them are valid. But as I say it will send a lot of people chasing their tails.
